Question [Book] The Night Watch - Sergei Lukyanenko

Just read this. Mixed views tbh.

Firstly, I liked the whole light/dark truce. Honouring a treaty as opposed to constantly fighting is an interesting angle.

I thought stories 1 and 2 started off well but the conclusions were whack. Third story was awful. My main problem was that all stories lead upto a climactic event but ended up
. This book basically had three very disappointing and random endings. Not very creative writing IMO.

Moreover, I felt there was a ton of waffle... a lot of mumblings from the lead character Anton.

Is it worth reading Day Watch?

Is it worth watching Night Watch and Day Watch movies, which are based on Night Watch novel only (and not the Day Watch novel)?

Dont forget the other two, dusk/twiligth watch and final watch.

The stories interlink in more fundamental ways as you read into the books I like how he's built the characters slowly. Your always waiting for the twist I think too.

Not sure how some of it comes across in translation but there a nice change from a lot of other fantasy/scifi.

Cool I can probably rent Night and Day Watch in a oner. Then start with Day Watch the book afterwards.

You can tell that it has been translated... doesn't read like an original English language book.
