60" Plasma

Has anyone actually seen (in the flesh) one of these ultra cheap 60" LG Plasma Screens? The LG60PC45 model. (for about £1500 ish)

Seeing as many other this size seems to be in the many MANY £1000's price bracket, I'd love to know just what's the deal with the LG model?

I know it's not 1080p, but still, that's one heck of a size for the money.

Not sure if it was exactly the model you're tqlking about, but I was stunned by the PQ on a 60" LG in Currys the other day. I think it was £1999 or so. They had it hooked up with a Bluray player with a sampler disc running clips of Casino Royale and Open Season. Not 1080p as you say, but I was mightily impressed. And this is not coming from someone who hasn't seen HD before, I've had my 32" LCD for over 2 and a half years, and have been watching HD from my HTC since I got it - also have a 360 with the HD-DVD addon.

Amazing TV for the money IMHO, but you'd need a big room!

Yeah, it must be the same model I'm talking about:

60" LG Monster

The problem is, I got my tape measure out and it will fit in the space I have !!! Oh dear.

==== EDIT ====

It get's worse - Everyone saying it's wonderful!

This is shocking.....

I had only thought I would be able to fork out for a 50-52 incher in the sales and now I've just stumbled on this thread and I might be forced to spend a bit more to get this...

there is also the newer LG 60PF95 which is full 1080p....

what is one to do?!?!?!?

what are the full specs of this one? will it make a huuuuuuuuuuuugge difference going for the true 1080p screen?

advice greatly appreciated.

I keep looking at that LG 60" Plasma (for about £1500+ ish)

As you say, they do a 1080p one but that a Grand more I think.

Not 100% it's worth £1000 extra to go from 720p to 1080p Although I'm sure up close (via BluRay HD-DVD) it would look nice.

From normal (10ft) seating, i'm sure even normal? HD (720p) would look nice.

All depends how much money ya got

And how long you can wait, perhaps in 2 years the 1080p one will be £1500 !

The way I look at it, you can't really loose with the £1500 model.
I mean, even 2nd hand it's gonna be worth a fair lump if you sell it.

I can't see 60" sets crashing in price in the near future.

If I didn't have a 50inch LG then I would have this in a heartbeat!

Just buy it.

oh my hearts been beating a lot may not be for a lot of people but this is a fairly large spend for us... I'll also need to invest in a decent cabinet, speakers and upscaling dvd player too - so it's all going to add up to well over the 2k mark.

what are the chances this will be reduced further in the January sales somewhere...
