Am still annoyed that the R1 release is in 4:3, didn't realise until it arrived

Big Bang Theory seems ok but don't find it half as funny or as endearing at HIMYM.

I've been saying that HIMYM is essentially friends, but replace the coffee shop with a pub. Got my housemate hooked on it, he's caught up in the past few weeks to the latest episodes.

This is one of my fav show's I can't believe it's in danger of being cancelled. I would have throught 7.8mil + viewers was pretty good going.I like Big Bang theory but find this funnier.

Only in that it features a group of 6 girls + guys

I'd say it's closer to Coupling over here - The plots are often quite inventive, quirky and often join up together at the end. Barney is a bit like Jeff in that he educates others on phrases and the ways of women and the like. Plus they all spend their time in a bar

Friends was always a lot more simple in plot and situations, though still funny all the same.

BBT is a cliche concept show while HIMYM is a group o' friends show. The former will do all the cliches of nerds each week while the latter doesn't have them to fall back on and can go in new and wonderful ways.

Yep, definitely has that inventive streak and the whole thing of playing with timelines (though never to the degree that Coupling did). Though Coupling was always compared to Friends for the same reason, 6 characters of mixed sex (though isn't it 5 in HIMYM), despite the fact that they were completely different in pretty much every other way.

Wasn't a dig at the spoiler, that was my choice.

Though I do think this forum should have a stronger policy on illegal downloads, considering how strict the rest of the forum is for that sort of thing. Makes the threads for shows that only have a single thread for all episodes pretty much a no-go area for anyone who isn't downloading.

Not really a spoiler but relates to Ep. 3x13

Would be a shame if this does get cancelled as it's a really enjoyable show with some good characters and some nice touches week to week (like you say, often linking back to previous episodes in clever ways).

Given the premise of the show, I hope that at whatever point it doesn't get renewed they at least have time to bring it to it's natural conclusion... "and that's how I met your mother"

You would think instead of E4 constantly showing friends in the 8pm slot they would pick this show up instead and maybe some of the friends audiences would apprciate this show

One of the best examples of this was:

After everyone saying how much they enjoy this show I thought the latest episode was a bit weak. Loved the Doogie Houser MD ending though.

I thought it was pretty good, loved the way that Barney didn't want to see the final four and also the MD ending.

Yeah, you'd think an episode based around Barney would be genius but I thought it was a bit weak.

Did enjoy the Doogie Houser ending though too
