The Doctor Who website has announced that the Voyage of the Damned will start at 6.50pm on BBC 1 on Christmas Day.

It will also be 71 minutes long - longer than either of the two previous festive episodes, and the longest single episode of the programme since its return in 2005.

Long Voyage

Christmas episode to be a little 'extra' special.

With BBC One's Christmas Day schedule just announced, we can confirm that you need to be in front of your telly and tuned in to BBC One at 6.50pm if you don't want to miss a second of Voyage of the Damned.

And there are quite a few seconds too. This year, the Doctor Who Christmas Special will run for a whopping 71 minutes instead of the usual 60.

If that wasn't enough, there will also be a brand new one hour Doctor Who Confidential at 8.30pm on BBC Three. With a whole host of bonus material launching on the website at around 8pm too, that's quite an evening of Doctor Who entertainment.

In case you missed it, and to whet your appetite, you can now watch the BBC One Christmas trailer screened last Saturday night online. It's packed with new footage from Voyage Of The Damned. Enjoy!
Fans of Tennant can also catch him over Xmas on:

23/12/2007 Top Gear (UK)
BBC Two 20:00pm
David Tennant takes to the driving seat as the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car.

25/12/2007 The Kylie Minogue Christmas Show (UK)
Radio 1 13:00pm
Kylie Minogue hosts her own show on Christmas Day as a stocking-filler for BBC Radio 1 listeners. Kylie plays some of her favourite songs, both past and present, and chats to David Tennant, ahead of the special Christmas edition of Doctor Who, in which she also stars.

26/12/2007 Extras (UK)
BBC One 21:15pm
Andy is no longer a humble extra but a star in his own right, however success has come at a price. Guest starring George Michael, David Tennant and Clive Owen.

Just to be a pedant but it's actually number "8". Number "9" is the rather nice jigsaw puzzle of the Titanic in Space.

Personally I thought both "The Christmas Invasion" and "The Runaway Bride" were pretty good all in all and "Voyage of the Damned" potentially looks even better than those so I think we will be in for a real treat on Christmas Day.

Me too. The debacle that was series 3 episode 13 had dampened my Doctor Who spirits somewhat but even that very short teaser trailer has got me all excited about the programme once again. [runs round in circles like an excited child]

I wasn't a big fan of "Last of the Time Lords" when I first saw it back in June but now having watched it quite a few more times I think it's great.

I agree about the teaser for "Voyage of the Damned" though, this is certainly shaping up to be something really special and the write up in the Christmas Radio Times only reinforces that feeling.

There is a two minute preview scheduled for this Saturday on BBC1 at 5.55ish just after the News and just before Strictly Come Dancing according to the Radio Times.

I would think this will be the trailer currently showing in some cinemas.

Have not seen it myself, but those who have say it looks like this is going to be a bit of a homage to the 70's disaster movies that are shown every Xmas.
(Cue its been a disaster since RTD got his "Gay Agenda" hands on it posts! )

Looking forward to it myself (no shock there really )

I quite enjoyed The Christmas Invasion - it had a level of panto that is probably to be expected at this time of year and was quite entertaining.

The second one, apart from the flying tardis bit, was just horrid, especially that awful Tate woman. As with jpig, I insisted we watched this whilst round at relatives last Christmas (complete with 'shh shh' noises as it started)....didn't get an invite this year.

Trailer for the new one looks a lot more promising than last year's.

Full preiview will debut online today (Friday 14th) @ 6pm here:

BBC You Tube

There is a two minute preview scheduled for this Saturday 15th on BBC1 at 5.55ish just after the News and just before Strictly Come Dancing according to the Radio Times.

Not sure if this will be the same as the online one or different, or even if both will be the same as the one's showing in some cinemas before Golden Compass.

It looks quite good. I just hope there's as much depth as there are visuals.

hopefully the ship breaking into the TARDIS is explained to my satisfaction, currently as i understand it the interior is held in another dimension to the exterior hence the inside is bigger than the outside, i think of it kind of like walking through a portal when you go inside the tardis. SO if the interior is stored somewhere separte but linked to the exterior sohuld something be able to break through? I suppose thinking aobut it if we can go in through the door and arrive in the interior theirs no reason why something can break through as well.

Thats pretty much how I understand it - the interior is in another dimension (wasn't it briefly explained in Logopolis?) and the exterior is a portal to that other dimension (and the portal can be moved around time and space).
[OG mode=OFF]

Now, thats enough OG style talk thankyouverymuch.
