Battlestar Galactica S3 R2

R2 of BSG S3 is due this week. Will those web eps be included with the set or not?

There was an ad in the Metro today for HMV that featured an obvious misprice... £13.95!!

As for extras, I doubt it, they seem to remove all the extras for the R2s

Looking at the box today, the only thing that could be considered an 'extra' is an additional disc called 'The Story So Far...' or something. Which sounds crap.

So no webisodes. Glad I decided not to pre-order. The US set will get the webisodes editied together along with a lot of extra material into an "episode 0" for the Season 3 set.

Universal UK can whistle if they think they're getting any of my money for this half-arsed release (got my fingers burnt with Season 1). I can quite happily live with my downloaded copies until the US set gets released.

Once again, us the UK get dumped on.

I've ordered the R2 from Amazon. Yes, I know the R1 will probably be better. But since I never listened to the audio commentaries or watched the deleted scenes on my UK Season 2 set I probably won't miss them. A few years back I would have been obsessive about missing out on the smallest special feature/extra on a DVD set. As long as the episodes are presented well I'll be happy to have it on DVD now.

I am inclined to get R2 version but web eps are deal breaker for me in case. I would not be so sure about R1 either.

Frak! Those Universal UK gives R2 no love.

DVD Extras
It’s deeply disappointing that there’s no room for the The Resistance webisodes that paved the way for season three’s debut. Instead you have to make do with a 42-minute “Story So Far” précis of the first two seasons.

That Story So Far is just a 43 minute programme made to be aired just before Season 3 started in the US. It only features clips from the mini series and first two seasons with some Roslin voice overs.

Universal UK should have included those web eps instead of that useless extra tbh.

The region 4 release (Australia) will be a 5 DVD set in November. Perhaps it will have commentaries but it doesn't look like an extra DVD.

We get it a few months early, and yes the US price will be around £35.

While I don't listen to commentaries that much the webisodes are, to me, a vital part of the Season 3 set - bridging the gap between seasons 2 & 3. Having them editied together, along with a fair amount of material that had to get cut out for timing reasons effectively makes them an extra episode. To me that is more important than getting it two months early.
It's not like these are still being prepared. The webisodes have been around for a year now and so there is no excuse for them not to be here, even if they were only present in their original 10-part format.

For the sake of 2 months I wish Universal would hold off the R2 release until they can release the same package worldwide.

As I've said, I can quite happily wait a couple of months and pay a few more pounds for a set which is going to be so much better.

Quoted for truth. that sums up my feelings on this issue. I can't view webisodes online either cause it's restricted to US viewers.

Adding up the total run times according to BSG wiki, 10 webeps run about 25 minutes or so.

I'l going for R1 if it's confirmed to be on the discs. If not, then I'll go for R2. I've been waiting for more than year for Season 3, waiting for few more months wouldn't bother me too much!

I haven't seen the 'webisodes' so its a case of what I haven't seen I'm not going to miss. If they were truly important they would have been in an episode or included in the boxset. If they are scenes trimmed from official episodes then how important can they be.

They're a nice extra and it is the poorer for not having them. Given the awful quality of the second half of S3 anything that helps to improve the set and make it worth buying is pretty necessary!
