Recommend me a learner guitar for a leftie.

Im getting my dad an electric guitar, amp etc for his christmas. I've been out of tune (lol) with guitars for the last few years so im not sure whats the best cheapies nowadays.

Was never really fond of squires (unless they've improved a lot recently).

Yamaha pacificas always seemed pretty good but unfortunatly the leftie version costs a load more than the standard one.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was going to suggest a Pacifica but didn't realise the lefty was so much more expensive.

So I suggest you get a Ł50 Strat copy from Netto, re-string it lefty & tell your Dad it's a Hendrix Replica ...

I'm a leftie but play right-handed. Does it help lefties playing left-handed guitars?

(Perhaps it's because I'm crap, but when I was younger I could never work out whether I played better tennis left- or right-handed. It was rubbish either way... )

I'm left-handed and have a leftie guitar. I'm so left-handed that I could never think about a right-handed guitar - it's just not natural to me.

I've tried air-guitar the 'wrong' way round - very weird! I don't think I could ever adapt.

I'm wanting to learn but not sure whether to try left or right handed, going by mjb's comments and the fact that i air guitar left handed i might go down that route.

I've had my leftie guitar for a while now - try my best to learn but don't discipline myself enough to practice when I should. One of those things that I must go back to but usually never do....

But, if I'm gonna get to grips with the hand co-ordination required, the last thing I need is for it to feel unnatural!

This must show how old I am, but I can remember as a nipper a gang of us in the school playground shelter air-guitaring and yelling out "yeah, yeah, yeah" (as in She loves you...); I suddenly noticed I was playing left-handed and everyone else was right... so I switched. Has this moment of conformity altered forever the path my life would take? A left-handed socket in a right-handed world

Maybe you were just subconsciously taking the McCartney role.
