The set will include the podcasts from the website (there isn't one for e203 yet), and deleted scenes. The podcast for e210 said the 15min longer DC would be released on DVD. Meaning this release?
Also now mentioned at DVDTimes

Cover art looks ok to me, & it does tie in with the Season 1 boxset art.
Cant belive how sexy Tricia Helfer looks even with red eyes

Anyway getting tempted now

But will depend on the price, any info on any pre-order's yet?

Why are so many people SO anti this release? For those of us who are waiting patiently for Sky to show it it's a great way to be able see the first half of the season in 5.1 without adverts and dogs etc before it even gets screened here!

Is it simply the fact that it's a half season release? To be releasing it halfway into the season seems like a great idea to me, why are so many of you negative about this? It's not like they've done what some companies do by splitting a finished season without reason (UK CSI releases for example).

We don't know Universal will release a better 'complete' season 2 set after the season is wrapped do we? If they simply release the season in 2 seperate sets then really, what's the problem? Apart from commentaries and deleted scenes, really what else is there to add for season 2 of any show? How many 'lowdown' making-ofs for exactly the same stuff do people want?!

It's because we see it as incredibly likely that there will be a complete set released later. The season 1 set was choc full of excellant extras. And we expect the same for the second one. So this comes across as simply a cashing in exercise. Even if I hadn't seen the episodes already I'd still wait since I'd be a bit miffed if I bought the two seperate set only for a complete one with a ton of extras to come out later.

Also there is the possibility that these will be all we get. Which again would be annoying since it's more expensive to buy the two sets and it would seem that there are few extras planned. Battlestar Galactica is the best sci-fi series I've seen in a long time and although I'm not normally a watcher of dvd extras I loved the ones on the season 1 set.

I'd have no problem with it if they let us know that these sets will be all we get and also let us know that any additional extras will be on the second set. But I'd still be miffed at the price of buying two sets rather than the one.

Thing is though, how much more in the way of extras can there be? Commentaries on 8 out of 10 episodes (assuming all the podcasts make it)and deleted scenes alone is quite a good haul. If they throw in David Eick's video blogs then I don't really see what else could be included.

The fact that the packaging matches the first season (which I am also currently enjoying on DVD) is another clue that maybe this is it. As I said above, if we get the long version of 'Pegasus' then that seals the deal for me.

anybody that thinks there will not be a re-release is living in land.

it happens enough with movie releases.

I would rather save the cash and wait for the whole lot together. and as Alan B pointed out if you subscribe to Sky you might as well get some value out of it.
besides the must see straight away mentality does not sway me - there are more things to life than Downloading TV shows and DVD's ( did I just say that?? )

Although the mini series was included in the Season 1 boxset, most (all?) of its extras were missing. If there is a combined series 2 set, the same could happen again.

As long as I can get this (half) set below the Ł18 mark I will go for it. A complete season 2 set would also push the price over the Import duty threshold hold so we will have a duty cost to deal with as well.

This half set is supposed to contain an extended directors cut, 40 deleted scenes, commentary's & maybe a video diary/making off thing. If all this is true its hard to see what else could be included if/when it is combined with a full set.

Yeah, but this release is hardly anything like as barebones as the UK release of S1 is it? Subtract the features from this release from the US S1 release and all that really remains is the Lowdown documentary and the production design drawings. The only SCi Fi Channel documentary this season was shared with the two Stargates, so that's hardly essential.

My point essentially, is what more do you need than commentary on 4/5 of the episodes and the deleted scenes? Unless they produced some mammoth specially-made documentary in a years time, I can't see an upgrade being necessary.

Anyway, I'm going to wait till it comes out, see what the reviews say and then see what price I can get it for, before i make a firm decision.

If they do bring a "better" full season 2 set out & you feel the need to upgrade, theres always some wally on ebay that will pay over the odds for this sort of thing anyway.

if they wanted to be really evil they'd make the full-season box set include the broadcast version of "Pegasus" - so you only get the extended one in the half-season.

Just trying to think like the enemy?

up for pre order Axel music for the excessive price of -1p (but no customs)

Looks like it's just a listing awaiting an official price .

You're being thick 2.0 is the correct place to start series 2, in IT land anyway.

Ah yes - 2.0 - that'll be the unpatched, barely working release of the dvds... I'll get them, they won't play, and an engineer will tell me that I'll have to wait for version 2.1b before its compatible with dvd players...

Except that 2.1 would usually be an improved version of 2.0, but still fundamentally the same product, whereas in this case it will be a completely different set of episodes, so not really an upgrade of the same thing.

Boxsets 2.1 and 2.2 would have made more sense.

You have to wonder if a full season boxset will indeed be released. It would be very strange to have a complete season boxset out, plus the same season in two separate boxsets.

Am I right in guessing that the second half of the season would be called 2.5 ?

BSG will probably be one of the first series to jump on the HD/bluray bandwagon anyways. Less than a year away now.

Maybe, but dvds will still be around for a long time after they launch HD/bluray, which will have a very long slow startup.

Yeah but wouldn't you rather wait for an HD version that could be released only months after the DVD?

Nah - I'm fairly sure that HD tv will be beyond my reach for several years after it eventually launches, and it will be used by the big corporations to justify making us re-buy all the dvds we've built up over the years. But that's off-topic, so I'll just say "no".

I don't think BSG will benefit much from an HD treatment - it's intentionally lo-fi and grainy.
