Console or PC gaming?

Which do you prefer?

I must admit I'm hacked off with the tech problems that come with PC gaming, so am considering an X-Box

both, depending on what i feel like playing

never encountered any tech problems with any PC i've used which have prevented any gaming/caused any hassle. nothing which cant be resolved before i get stressful anyway.

Started off with consoles (NES, mega drive, N64, ps) then got tired of having to change every few years so went to PC. That's still the main thing i use but my bro had a gc and now an xbox and i did co-op with him on a couple of games like swat and shadow ops red mercury and really liked it so im not sure, i think PC wins at the end of the day though as consoles are out-dated as soon as the next one comes out and are only used for games, whereas PC'c can be upgraded over time and do a whole loads of other things on top of gaming.

Most of my gaming for the last 16 months or so has been consoles - have Cube, Brick & PS2 ( and a couple of GBA SPs). Really enjoyed games on all these systems.

Before that it was almost 99% PC gaming - mainly online with MoHAA, CS and Warcraft 3.

Unfortunately my PC got a bit old hat and wouldn't run most of the new games so I reverted to consoles.

But ..... my ninja PC (Athlon 3400+, 1 gig ram, GF6800 Ultra) has now been ordered in anticipation of Doom III, HL2, CS:Source and quite a few others so it looks like PC gaming is going to reign for me again.

I think it depends on the games - having just got an XBOX I prefer it for action and sports games, but the PC rules for RPG, adventure and strategy ones.

Pretty much agree with this. Can't get on playing FPS with a pad, give me a mouse anyday. Driving and Sport games I find better on the Xbox.

i just seem to play pc stuff nowadays. Left consoles behind after the dreamcast. Theres just something better about playing other people online instead of computer opponents

I'm happy playing both consoles and PC games but will play games on whichever platform gives the better experience for a particualr game. For example, Halo is better on the PC than the XBox, however playing stuff like the Lord of the Rings TTT & ROTK, GTA Vice City, work better on a console.

Both are good but serve different purposes. Mainly PC games for me, especially when I'm on my own. FPS is my genre and PC rules the roost for them. Consoles are good when I have mates over and we are chilling out with a few tinnies Monkey bowling owns

Same as Dan - FPS on PC, pretty much everything else on console (can't use a pad for FPS no matter how hard I try).

I also find that the PC is the only place that I game online - nothing against online gaming on console, there just hasn't been anything that's appealed to me yet.

PC gaming for me. I play a lot of online games such as BF1942, and also like FPS, which really need a mouse and a keyboard.

Also most PC game support save anywhere, and with a wife and two children I need to be able to start a game exactly where I left off as you get constantly interrupted.

I do have a PS2, but rarely use it as it's connected to the wide-screen TV which my wife and children monopolize!

I haven't really played a game on my PC since I bought an Xbox. The simplicity and range of games make console (Xbox) gaming much more of a pleasure than PC gaming ever really was.
The XBox is such a well designed console that my PC is only used for surfing nowadays (and thus will save me a lot in upgrades!)

I used to do gaming on PC but got tired of the constant upgrading. Went and got a PS2 and then an Xbox and have enjoyed both. In general, PC games are nicer but it is the more expensive route.

Both.. you can't play certain games on a PC and you can't play certain games on a console. RTS games, FPS games, racing games.. each is better on one platform really.

depends on what you want to play most of..

FPS and RTS on a PC for sure, rpg well better on a pc, easier on a console.

The console is slightly more flexible, the same kit can be used for driving, flying, platforms or fps. On a PC you'd really need to get joysticks and wheels.

I still feel that the console games are dumbed down though this is games on my dc, old cube and xbox.

Used to mainly play PC, but got a GC liked that and eventually ended up with a PS2 and an XBox too.

The PC still has it's place for games, but for me, the XBox far surpasses the PC in terms of fun content...

I'm not allowed a console

Apparently my other half refuses to be a TV widow too...

However, I did build a media PC, put that in the living room and with Toca 2 / NFSU and a PS2 USB converter thingy its pretty close to a console.

Until it crashes.

Agree with this - most of my gaming (apart from Champ Man! ) is on the Xbox now - just can't afford to keep my PC up to date for Doom3, HL2 etc..
