Top Wild Dives with Tanya Streeter

Did anyone else catch this on Monday night on bbc2?

She is a fantastic athlete (freediver) and used her skills to swim with whales, dolphins, sharks and others.

Have to say that she is quite fit as well

Awesome photography.

Like the Sealion bit.

Having seen loads of people jump in to an inflatable to go and chase dolphins, one chap nearly getting taken out by the prop I can just imagine the whale shark scene. Always seems to be the Italians that do this.

It was the start that surpsied me when she menioned about snorkelling / freediving to 25m as a teenager before she really got in to it.

I loved the section where she was swimming with whales.

There was something hypnotic about watching her swim with those monofin flippers on.

It seemed to be a compilation of her earlier programmes. Very nice indeed. I was going to book a maldives holiday until I saw that 'attack' on the whale shark. But we can't all afford HER budget when we dive. Mixed emotions at that sequence.

Fab programme. On a deep dive she can hold her breath for up to 6 minutes! I think her point about how to interact with marine life was fair - it wasn't that there were multiple people in the water (although there did seem to be too many to be adequately supervised), but how they had surrounded the whale shark(?) and tried to grab it. I'd hope that there are more responsible operators in the Maldives so you can still get the experience without having your own crew.
