Thumbs down Piers Morgan replaces Larry King on CNN

I know this rumour was going around a month or two back, but it seems it's been made official now - Piers Morgan is to replace Larry King on his CNN show and will air worldwide in more than 200 countries.

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/4/20100909/...g-ea4616c.html

The 45-year-old said he was "thrilled" and "very much looking forward to bringing my own style of interviewing ()to the world's biggest, and best, TV news organisation"

Can't say I was a regular viewer even for Larry King's show, but the fact that this worm seems to be on a trajectory for worldwide domination proves to me there is no God

On the plus side, maybe he won't be on 'normal' tv as much

Surely he should be eyeing up the vacancy soon to be available as David Camerons press advisor, requirements must include previous experience editing a seamy tabloid that trawls the bottom of the sewer.

I've never seen Larry King live but I always assumed he was at least a somewhat-respected and heavyweight interviewer - WTF does Piers Morgan have in common with him?

Still, if it means he leaves the UK for good, so be it.

"It was the strangest thing, you know. I dreamt the other night
that I was in bed with Piers Morgan.
And, you know, I woke up, and I was thinking,
''Why Piers Morgan?'' you know.
And then I realised that the cat had been sick on the duvet."

i think he's ok - was great on the apprentice, and from what i've seen of AGT (spray tan aside) looked alright on that too.

does seem to be a bit of a megalomaniac though...

He made the decision to publish the pictures, he did not fake them.

Getting sacked from the Mirror was the best thing that could have happened to him.

He will now get £5.5 million for four years when he takes over from Larry King plus he will still be doing the Americas got talent show for three years. He will likely be on £2-£3 million a year.

he knew there were question marks over their authenticity and that they potentially put british soldiers lives at risk from reprisals. But his career was more important. a scumball.

It's funny how things change. When Piers ******* **** **** Morgan was editor of the Mirror it was all the rage to slag off soldiers, but now people round on you for slightest slur against them. They are all heroes now.

Was the only journalist brave enough to push the 'non invading of Iraq' agenda and used to run a ticker in the Mirror counting down the days that they'd spent trying to find the alleged WMD - "65 days and no WMD".

I'm no fan either, but there is a proper journalist in there trying to get out.

He was fired from the Mirror for printing fake photographs.

I struggle to see how he could be described as a 'proper journalist' after that fiasco.

He lef the Mirror because he put his name behind the photos and vouched for their authenticity. He was shafted by the journalist that took them and rightly took the fall for it. It wasn't like he was there framing the shots.

Yep he must have taken a real bruising from the Zanu Labour media machine for that, especially given the close relationship between that paper and the government of the time.

Larry King is horrible so I think Piers should do ok.
