Indeed, very promising. Whats the connection to the novel (or even the movie?)

Looked it up, seems no real connection to the comic book. Set afterwards, sounds like it could be good. I quite liked the movie.

Snyder gets a lot of criticism, from myself included, but I thought the movie was a good adaption.

This could be interesting. Although hope it's planned back bit better than other HBO shows (Westworld)

Yeah I enjoyed the movie a lot. Snyder was an in impossible situation really. Deviate from the graphic novel and the fans complain, but be too true to the source material and get accused of not having your own vision.

Yeh you always had Alan Moore whingeing about any sort of adaptation, so you'd lose the fanboys from day 1. But for what the movie was I really enjoyed it, possibly not my fave movie of all time, but when I see it on the telly I often tape it.

I've no knowledge of the origins, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Snyder film as well. It was very much a 'super hero film for grown ups' in my mind.

The show looks to continue that tone nicely.

Just saw the premiere. As someone who is not a fan of the original story (at least in film form, which I've somehow managed to sit through a couple of times), I found this a pretty decent watch. A lot to take in and hard to follow at moments but it keeps things moving quickly. It clearly has a LOT to say about racial violence in America.

As far as I can tell, this is a sequel to the original story. There were a lot of references to what had come before, but at the same time this world feels very changed. I will definitely need a fair few things explaining to me. Regina King is a strong lead, everyone else doesn't really get enough time on screen to get a good feel for them.

Great soundtrack, as expected.

It was pretty good, but oddly quite predictable at times. You could see
miles away. May take a while to find its feet, but I'll be back for more.

Loved the first episode. Does a good job of retaining the feel of the comic book but also fresh & inventive throughout. And obviously the icing on the cake is the incredible NIN soundtrack...

Must say I enjoyed it...though I think I need to go and re read the comics (I saw Dave Gibbons credited but not Alan Moore?). I didnt think the Rorschach character had the beliefs of the group wearing his mask so intrigued as to how they adopted his identity.

cheers

I struggled with it to be honest, just didn't hold my attention for some reason.

Alan Moore does not approve of adaptations of his work and asked for his name to be taken off all future versions.

Read an interview with Lindeloff where he states the original comic was all about the America of its day, which was the cold war, what would be the modern equivalent to that, he went with racial violence. I disagree, I would say its America's involvement in other countries thus making them hate the west and leading to events like 911.

Apparently there is website that fills in the gaps between the comic and the TV show. Rorschach's journal was revealed to the public but dismissed as a conspiracy theory, but right wing nutjobs love a conspiracy theory so have adopted his mask.

I reckon Lou Gossett jr is Hooded Justice. At the start the silent movie he watched as a kid had a black hero who wore a hood. Hooded Justice wore a noose around his neck and was known for being physically strong.

I liked the nod of the blood drop falling on Don Johnson's badge just like it did on the Comedian's badge; I'm guessing his death will have similar ramifications.

As for Veidt, I'm guessing his servants were either robots or more likely clones. He mentioned his play "Son of a watchmaker" or summat which obviously refers to Dr Manhattan. Maybe he's looking to clone Osterman, put him through the same conditions that created Dr Manhattan, and then he has a subservient superbeing
