I’m not enjoying the series reboot of Miracle Workers, I’ve no idea where they are going with it but they’d better explain it soon.

Me neither. It's like they've ripped up the entire first season and tried a medieval comedy show. And it's crap. Buscemi and Radcliffe must really need the paycheck.

The first episode of Hulu's adaptation of High Fidelity wasn't too bad. They've switched the gender of Rob (because that's what you do now), but other than that, there's lots of familiar stuff lifted directly from the book/movie & it has a great soundtrack.

The only real letdown is the woman they've got in the Jack Black role from the movie. She seems to have been told to just do a Jack Black impression & it's absolutely hideous to watch.

yep, I'll add to that. Unless something happens later on, really not sure what the tie in is. Although I did have a little chuckle at the bard's party mix.

The new Twilight Zone starts at 2am on Tuesday morning on SyFy. It's a weird time but I also so an advert saying they are releasing all episodes at the same time so I'm guessing they will all appear On Demand then.

Some more newbies:

Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector finds the titular supergenius paraplegic detective cracking uncrackable cases in New York with the help of a female rookie. It's nominally based on Jeffery Deaver's novel, but aside from the lead characters it doesn't bear much (if any) resemblance to either the book or the movie. It's OK, but apart from Michael Imperioli, none of the cast feel particularly well, erm, cast & given how well Deaver's books are put together it's just bizarre they felt the need to change the plot so much & add a 'crime of the week' too.

FBI spin-off FBI: Most Wanted is basically a lower-rent Criminal Minds in which Julian McMahon leads his team of kick-ass super agents (including Keisha Castle-Hughes & Kellan Lutz) around the country tracking down fugitives. Entertaining enough, but not a patch on its predecessor, which has really been upping its game recently.

Outmatched stars Jason Biggs and the always watchable Maggie Lawson as a regular married couple who just happen to have spawned three genius children (& one 'normal' one). It's quite amusing in places & the leads are very likeable. Hopefully it'll get some time to get settled.

Indebted sees Adam Pally (the slobby one from Happy Endings) as a family man whose parents move in with him after they burn through their retirement fund. The parents are played by the usually reliable Steven Weber & the inexplicably popular (in the US at least) Fran Drescher. Completely laugh free, inconsistent (the writers seem to forget Pally & his wife have kids from week to week) & frankly a struggle to sit through. I'd be amazed if it isn't canceled soon.

Tommy stars Edie Falco as the first female Chief of Police in Los Angeles. It's well written, professionally put together and Falco is great as usual, but three episodes in & I'm just finding it a bit… blah.

Transplant is about a Syrian refugee doctor trying to rebuild his medical career in Canada. The only recognisable face in the cast is John Hannah, but the lead guy is quite compelling and it's not afraid to show the grue involved in a surgical emergency - one bit of the pilot involving an eye and pair of scissors made me feel quite queasy. It's nothing unmissable, but I like a hospital drama so I'll give it a few more episodes.

For Life is yet another legal drama, the twist here is that that lawyer in question is a convicted criminal serving time for a crime he didn't commit, working as a defence attorney as he tries to get his sentence overturned. Based on a true story & produced by 50 Cent, its solid enough. The lead guy is new to me but he's very good & the supporting cast includes Indira Varma and Mary Stuart Masterson, who I hadn't seen onscreen for years. Not bad at all.

Dispatches from Elsewhere starring Jason Segel, Richard E. Grant, Andre Benjamin and Sally Field was deeply, deeply weird, & I have no idea where it's going, but I liked it a lot. Great soundtrack too.

& while it's not exactly new (it's been going since 2014), I'd like to give a shout out to Mike Tyson Mysteries, a ten-minute-per-episode animated comedy about the ex-boxer, his adopted daughter, a ghost and a talking pigeon solving people's strange problems, Scooby-Doo style. It's incredibly stupid, but never fails to make me laugh out loud by the end credits. Highly recommended.

I’ve been enjoying Outmatched but I only got through 2.2 eps of Indebted. I just can’t stand Drescher.

I don't recall Sherlock being paraplegic.
