Just finished this, been watching it over the last 3 days. Somehow it shouldn't be binge-worthy as it's very slow and has a glacial pace to it, yet at the same time it's utterly compelling and you really want to see where it's going.

Very impressed with it, Holt McCallany who I've always thought was a decent enough, but hardly great actor, was fantastic in it. Very much looking forward to the 2nd season.

Strangely enough I never really liked Zodiac at the time it came out. Perhaps I should give it a 2nd chance.

There’s 2 great lift shots. The first at the end of ep 2 when the Talking Heads kicks in got me too

Loving this so far, great show.

I'm enjoying it, but it's difficult to get past the fact that Holden's voice is so familiar.

Turns out he voiced Kristoff in Frozen!

I think once Groff and Holt McCallany team up the series starts to get motoring proper, but most of that first episode was a chore for me too. Once they start getting into interviewing and dealing with serial killers in episode two it definitely jumps up a gear.
Thanks for the context.

I love Zodiac so had massive hopes for this. I'll keep at it for sure.

Never seen Frozen, so I didn't have that issue but his voice kept reminding me of Mulder from the X-Files.

End of the first episode it kind of goes sideways taking to that detective about that case. Didn't understand that.. anyone know what happened? Thought they were discussing and the detective got angry...

Yeah, that confused me the first time too. It made a bit more sense in retrospect: these FBI dudes are coming to the police with the advertisement that they have all the answers and are pioneering all sorts of new ideas. When the old cop asked them for help, the FBI guys suggested that they might be able to sort through it all and got his hopes up. When Holden starts talking through his thoughts, they are completely bizarre to the cop because he's really old school. Holden then admits that he has no idea what he's talking about and that pushes the cop over the edge.

Also, the cop was a bit of an arsehole anyway.

I was a bit unsure of this after the first episode, but one they started visiting Edmund Kemper and others it had me hooked...just past episode 6 and was happy to find something that wifey actually likes too, which is always tricky (particularly given subject matter).

Found some actual pics of Kemper...looks like they nailed him in the series.

Well, in fairness there's 7yrs between those films so you've probably missed quite a lot of his performances, but yes he has (recently in Life for instance).

Just finished this after only starting last week. Utterly sublime television. It completely side steps all the cliches that plague most crime investigation series. For most people it is difficult to even broach the fact that serial killers are actually humans and not evil monsters but Mindhunter is brave enough to show these people as humans to get to the root of their despicable crimes. It also shows the impact of spending every day researching appalling crimes has on people.

For those interested, here's a video showing some of the VFX breakdowns in the show:

Fincher always does this so well.

I finished this last night, really enjoyable but there were a ton of loose ends that I'd have like to have seen more resolution / time spent on. I'm guessing they'll drift nicely into season 2.

The whole 'tickling teacher' side story has got to go somewhere dark.

What the hell does this mean?
Is it the sort of programme ones wife would enjoy watching as well.

I realise it depends on the wife

As it happens mine reallly enjoyed this. As did I, other than the loose ends.
