"Why do you like Manchester United, Dad?" my little one asked. "They always lose."

We're the new old Liverpool, aren't we?

It's a good discussion, about loyalty and supporting your team no matter what. At my school you got the **** taken out of you if you were a glory supporter, now everyone seems to do it.

We were in the midst of our drought when I started supporting United, so this is nothing!

Supported them since the early '70's so, until Fergie, it was a few FA cups that kept us all happy...ish. I'm sure we have been as bad as this at some point but it's far harder to take since our glory years came and went. United are horrible to watch now, but I still do in the hope that a 'corner' will be turned and the title will be in our grasp once more...but that's probably how Liverpool fans felt 30 years ago!!!

You know it's going to be a long and painful 90 minutes when you see Phil Jones in the starting 11...you can add Lingard to that too!

Ole should maybe given the summer to prove himself in the transfer market but I doubt he'll survive that long

In the MEN player ratings Jones and Lingard got 1/10.

I can understand persevering with Lingard, he's been good in the (distant) past, and we are horribly light in midfield, but I have no idea how Jones gets selected, one of the kids would be better.

Lucky to still be in this and I'm sure there'll be another goal against soon, but can't help thinking that a good United team - even one made from this squad this season - could have done them here today.

edit: were 6 or 7 players short of being anywhere near as good as Liverpool, though, sadly.

This could be an interesting development in VAR ... United have been charged for their reaction to Pawson allowing Firmino's goal on Sunday which VAR then overruled. In this new VAR world, if the ref is deemed to have made a mistake then should any reaction to the mistake be ignored ?

Can't see that ever being a viable thing, so if you punch the referee in the face it's ok if he made a mistake with VAR? It was never the case in the old pre-VAR days, regardless of whether the decision was right.

Yes, but in pre-VAR days the on field ref's decision is final ( and technically it still is ) and he was infallible. But now he isn't if that makes sense.

Not that I am condoning violence against referees you understand.

No. De Gea's booking still stands even though the decision was changed.

Why on earth is Greenwood not playing? Very odd.

I'm actually looking forward to Wolves playing you at your place in a couple of weeks!

Martial is actually a pretty poor striker, we'll never be any good whilst we settle for players of his 'quality'. We need to spend huge amounts in the summer and I'm doubtful it'll be Ole doing the spending...awful, awful, awful team!!!

Who do you think it'll be?
I don't want Potch, I don't rate him that highly, give me Allegri any day

Don't know, depends who becomes available in the summer...5 months is a long time in football management! Whoever comes in they need to be less of a Mr Nicey McSmiley than Ole...his easy style has done nothing for this team, they need a good kick up their complacent arses!

...God, we were so fortunate to have Fergie... ...and now we're 0-2 down at OT!

...wouldn't be in the slightest surprised to wake up tomorrow to find Ole's gone!!

...haven't lost to Burnley for 51 years apparently

Martial needs four touches for everything.

Really exposed tonight, pretty ordinary Burnley side but our front 6 are dreadful.

Pointless stat. We haven't lost to them since they were promoted to the PL
