Nope, from what I see on my facebook feed it seems this has just turned into some massive corporate thing just trying to fleece people of as much money as possible. Also it appears to just be a clone of Reading as well after checking out the line up.

Curious. In what way (fleecing and Reading)? Prices not really changed, none of the same artists.

I keep seeing adverts for them selling stuff like perks for Barclaycard customers, paying for phone charging, sponsored drinks etc etc.

I dunno, maybe 30 years it was exactly the same.

Going on the Friday. With a few exceptions, the other two days are terrible.

Not a great lineup for me either on Saturday and Sunday but a few that I'm excited about and a chance to hear some different bands.

If you're not into the Smashing Pumpkins, go see Fever 333 in the tent on Sunday. They're great.

I would have done but they clash with Dream Theater who are a must see for me.

Can't say I'm looking forward to the camping this year, weather doesn't look great and the damage has already been done. Hopefully we can get set up before it gets too bad.

Some really bad clashes for me this year especially on the Friday

Yes the weather has been ridiculous. Glad I am not camping. Hoping that getting in and out of day car park will be ok. Had a nightmare getting in last time I went in 2016.
Good luck Bish!

I remember the first year I went which was 2010 I think and I was working the main gates and they kept everyone queuing in the rain until midday, even though we had to be at the gates for 9am.

People have been going home already according to the BBC, the site being in such a state. Doesn't look good.

Wise. I nearly died in the mud of Donington. People around me did die. I’d never take that risk again.

Two people I know working there say it is by far the worst they've seen for standard punters due to the moving of the car park.

It's horrible when it rains, just not fun trying to walk through the village and I don't think anyone that's never been before realises how far it is to walk from the car park and the campsites to actually get into the arena. Luckily each year I went I was working for Oxfam so we had the "oxbox" HQ in 1 of the pit garages and our camp site was in the middle of the track so lots of tarmac around.

I haven't died yet. Queue to get in was bad (over an hour) so missed Last in Line. Queue for beer is best part of an hour too

I'm surprised the queue for a beer is so long what with the prices and the mud.

Queues for the bar yesterday was ridiculous. Apparently a lot of volunteers didn't turn up because of the weather. Which makes no sense, since there wasn't a problem in 2016.

The weather and mud situation in the arena is exagerrared though. There was a five minute spot of heavier rain at just after seven. Other than that it was 60 second showers every now and then.

Moving day ticket people to a different car park and entrance worked well for us. Took about twenty minutes to get in and no issue getting out.

Bands-wise it was a very good day. Def Leppard are the ultimate pros. You can tell that they still look after themselves, so don't suffer like many other bands do as they get older.
