hae hl is goio with my EDGE browser? From time time t doeis, I typin t and it o slow missiwI typ

This is what I wrote above EDGE

What the hell is going on with my EDGE Browser.
From time to time it does this and is so slow it's missing what I type.

I could press a letter on my keyboard 3 times before it appears, and this includes the cursor control keys.

Started doing this occasionally, perhaps few times an evening about a week or 2 ago.

(Writing this in notepad and pasting it in)

Task manager shows about 5%

Little update, I did a Google, saw much problembo but some advice was go into EDGE settings and clear cookies, and data and such like.
Did that, and it seems to be all "Springy" again.......

Have to admit Tempest I admire your perseverance when it comes to using Edge. From your various posts it sounds about as much fun as trying to use linux on the desktop in the late nineties! I'd have given up long ago and switched back to Chrome or Firefox.

Every company that tracks this kind of thing shows Edge losing users every single month since it was released. Soon the browser will be what Tempest wants since he will be its only remaining user and they may as well suit it to him.

Laughs, yes, I am beginning to think I am working my way to some sort of prize
I did force myself to try and get used to it, and has pretty much got within days of going back to Chrome, when we had the November Windows Update which fixed the initial freeze on a web page before it allowed scrolling, and the lack of Bookmarks syncing.
That update fixed those 2 things, so other than the favourites menu system being less than perfect (though I have got used to it reasonably)
And the Bling stuff (with one or two other small things) I was getting along ok.

Yayyyyy, perhaps that's what it needs

In seriousness, it does feel that something has gone wrong inside it.
It's as though it's freezing/pausing at times.
Four time today I have been typing into a box such as this one now, and every few moments it freezes for a second so it's not getting the character I type.

I did notice, the animated smileys to the right hand side, they were stopping their animation also for a second, then the animation started again then stopped again.

I know they are animated gifs, but given my typing stopping, it's as if the whole browser is stuttering, on and off on and off.

This is very recent, can't say I noticed it over the Christmas break, or if I did it was very seldom, it's far worse now.
Wonder if I can in some way re-set / re-install edge to try and put it right.

And yes, I am still holding off chrome. (for now!)

As part of me is wondering if something bigger is amiss here, I ran the sfc /scannow command and got this:

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Even as I type this I am having to re-type letters 3 times as EDGE is Freezing and Sta

Gave up !!!

(writing this in notepad)

As I was TRYING to type, EDGE is freezing and restarting every few seconds, literally.

Can I use the Media Creation Tool to re-install windows again over the top and perhaps fix whatever is wrong here, something def feels borked

I did that when I got that same failure of SFC and it fixed everything.

A hell of a lot, far to much to read, let alone even thinking of posting.

If it's anything like mine was, it's not worth the hassle! The command to fix SFC was also broken. Considering how fast a Windows 10 to Windows 10 reinstall is, it's less effort to just do it.

I believe (someone please correct me) that Msoft finally backtracked to doing the blindingly obvious (which I thought they would as too much poo otherwise)

In that now (or soon?) a valid Windows 8 type activation code off the box, will activate a fresh 10 on a fresh system.

This, change the Mboard and need to buy windows again for Ł100 was never going to fly for long.

For Apple users or other systems, yes, but not PC users.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, with Threshold 2 you can just use your 7 or 8 key to activate it. I have done precisely that after a motherboard failure.

1 2 3 and I'm back in the room

50 mins round trip and Windows 10 re-installed, and guess what.

EDGE is still borked exactly the same as before, freezing and restarting every few seconds.
You can see the little animated gif smiles freezing and restarting every few seconds.

Shows you what a crock of poo a so called re-install is as it's not cleaning out whatever wrong

Fixed my PC perfectly well. But do bare in mind that it also keeps all of your settings, customisations, data and programs intact. So it is, by definition, not cleaning *everything*.

Perhaps it's time to switch to a less **** browser.

Why are you so insistent on using Edge? There are so many good browsers out there that actually work.

Well, yes I know..........
Still bothers me that something is wrong.

My Tablet is Windows 10 and naturally that's better for Finger use than Chrome.
It seems fine now.... odd....
Intermittent issues I hate.

Honestly It's only that I have been doing my best to "Embrace" Windows 10 and all it offers.....

I have good sticking power also
