Do you use your DVD drive a lot? I put one of these in my laptop so I've got two hdd's in there. Don't miss the DVD bay, never used the thing.

I have an external BD burner so never use the internal drive. I'm not that fussed about it being internal as long as it's quick enough for installing games - it should be with USB 3.0 surely?

There's a good chance that windows will have all the drivers you need built in. Anything still missing and I'd have a look on Asus' website. Might be worth downloading the network drivers from there in advance, just in case. The rest, if necessary, you can get from the internet once installed.

your motherboard drivers
If you're feeling adventurous then go to the individual chipset manufacturers sites for the latest drivers but definitely download the motherboard chipset drivers rather than relying on more dated windows 7 drivers that may be generic rather than specific.

Just a quick one. I have a seventy five quid pc world voucher and also a ten percent off voucher as well

So thought would get a graphics card. If i was to look at one at aroun hundred quid or so could you suggest which one ?

Also, bearing in mind my power supply, would i need a new one to power the graphics card ? If so could you suggest again which one

Cheers

To pick a £180 graphics card at random (I assume by £100 you mean £100 + £75 + 10% discount) the specification says
Quote:
Minimum of a 500 power supply. (Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 30 Amps.)
as the sustained current on the 12v rails is what's important. While it says 34a somewhere I'm not sure if that's sustained or max and I'm dubious about sticking an expensive graphics card on a £10 psu, even if you actually mean a £100 graphics card.

Cheers.

I have cash to around £100 - so in total, bearing in mind the voucher (which is actually only fifty quid I have just found out) I have £150 to spend (give or take)

Im also dubious on the %10 voucher which seems to be product specific

Sou would it be £100 graphics card and £50 PSU ?

Any obvious things to go for at PC World ? Not been in one for years - are they still as they used to be ?

I just had to buy a new PSU as my 480w old one didn't have enough juice to power one of the newer demanding cards. That was with just one HDD too!

Looking at the limited selection of basically OCZ or Antec Basiq I'd go for the Basiq as it has modular cables whereas the ocz doesn't and dual 12v rails with 30a each.

Neither the OCZ or Antec appear to feature modular cables in the 550w models. Personally, I'd go for the OCZ 550w. GFX card wise, probably the ATI 7770 (slightly over budget at £109.99).

for the rest of your budget (assuming £100?) - either of the the 550Ti cards look ok, or failing that, the AMD 6770 (basically a rebadged 5770) or the 7770 should be fine performers for the money.

chart at tom's gives an idea of relative performance, with all of the above cards fairly similar in performance. you'd need to check reviews for how noisy and/or power hungry each card is though. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ew,3107-7.html
