"So you thought you'd seen every thrilling moment of Die Hard... Well, think again!" Kudos to Fox for those.

I wouldn't. Oh sure, I'd still be watching a lot of movies but mostly whatever Hollywood crap they choose to show in the local cinemas. There's no way I'd have some 2000 movies on VHS - the price was too high and the quality too low. I probably wouldn't have discovered Miyazaki or Naruse or Hong Sang-soo... Gah, the thought sends chills down my spine.

I like the small featurette on the Die Hard DVD that showed the difference between widescreen and pan and scan.

Billy also has a massive wanger between his legs from his good old Porno days, so in theory he has 2 Big weapons

Billy has the shotgun/M16 combo from the beginning, doesn't he? And who's Ace? Blain is the one who gets his chest ventilated.

The only one who picks up Blain's gatling gun is Mac surely?

I was watching the old BD though so maybe the grain was distracting me...

Questions for the fans.

What splats on Blains neck before he gets his chest emptied?

I thought it was splash from the impact of the "round" from the predator's cannon.

Good question. I've always wondered what exactly happens in that scene.

Did someone on here mention that the first hit in this scene is from the Predator spear (the blue object), that was never really shown in the film?

So, I thought maybe it was a spear attack and then plasma canon?

Or maybe the Predator shot the small furry animal first, splatting him with blood. Then shoots him in the chest.

There's no way the Predator would have missed him. If the Predator wanted to kill him he would have got him in one shot not two.

Psycho

I always thought it was plasma discharge from the cannon (a bit like the drips from the shuttle engine at the end of Alien).

I always saw it as the Predator was just teashing him and fired a weaker shot into his shoulder and then finished him off.

Getting the widescreen VHS tape of Die Hard (white spine version) was like seeing some sort of amazing director's cut versus the cropped, dubbed and hacked-up TV edit that I burnt into my brain. Since then, I've never stopped trying to get the best presentation I can for my favourite movies. I guess I've never stopped railing against those abominations that were shown on TV way back when.
The Die Hard thing was what convinced me too - all my VHS became WS after that and I had laserdisc too
