SelectCheaper - worst online site I've ever used

Anyone had any problems with this site before and how did you go about resolving them.

Ordered a few DVD's a week and a half ago using my debit card, the site has been processing them for a week and a half and initially agreed to cancel then sent another email telling me they'd despatched which I know for a fact is a lie as I've read feedback on the site and thats what they do.

I asked them why did you say the items had been cancelled then tell me you've despatched and they sent me some stock answer back without even answering the question.

Problem is I've read reviews of the site and it mirrors my experiences, looked at their Ebay profile which is shocking and their Playtrade feedback is also shocking - any suggestions before I end up ringing them up and going ballistic.

Oh and don't bother using this site btw, see their offfers on alot of bargain sites.....if your remotely tempted check out their ebay/playtrade and internet reviews before wasting your money.

I think I'm going to have to go for a chargeback through the credit card company.

A DVD boxset arrived crushed to pieces.

I mailed SelectCheaper to ask for a returns number.

I got an automated reply telling me that my order had been despatch and that it would soon be with me.

I wrote a new email headed COMPLAINT and received the same automated reply.

I haven't used them very often - only 34 orders since January 2004, when they were SelectDVD - but I haven't had any major problems. They cancelled 2 orders because they weren't able to get more stock, and one item arrived as a factory sealed case with no DVD inside! They replaced it promptly.

Most recent orders were:
Cybill S4 for £9.60 on 4 Nov 2009, shipped 9 Nov, arrived 12 Nov (now only £8.77 ).
Mamma Mia! for £3.45 on 10 Dec, shipped 16 Dec, arrived 21 Dec
Factory sealed products in perfect condition.

I won't be using them again. I'm still trying to get my refund. I finally got a returns number and sent the item back. A month on and countless voicemails later, no action.

Perhaps they read this forum as today I've received an email saying the refund will be with me in 3-4 days.

Yeah I never went back to them, first impressions are everthing imo googled and didn't find it too hard to find some real horror stories.

Playtrade, Amazon and Ebay were full of them in their account feedback not to mention word of mouth on the web.

CD Wow and the other site which they appear to run are my new worst online retailer - used to order from CD Wow all the time and they were great but now them and the other asian site seem to take orders, withdraw money from your account then refund you 2 weeks later with some BS excuse. Several orders in a row its happened so they can also join my blacklist.

Yay, the refund has arrived. I will think twice about using them in the future. I stopped using CD-Wow when they wound up their UK support service. They started the cheap CD/DVD revolution but I'm happier now to use ones closer to home like HMV and Amazon.

Ordered about 20 DVDs from this lot via Amazon in January. Some apparently dispatched the next day - only to be apparently returned damaged in the post a day or even hours later. This turned into pattern over the next week or so - when apparently every single order was either damaged in the post within a few hours of despatch or cancelled because they couldn't get any more stock (even if they'd apparently been dispatched and were still taking orders on Amazon). Some of my DVDs were even lucky enough to be cancelled because of lack of stock and to be damaged in the post.

In the end I didn't get any of the DVDs and the refunds came in dribs and drabs over two weeks. Pity as I remember they used to be quite good a few years ago.
