AMC has posted the full trailer online, and announced the series' official premiere date: October 31 at 10 PM EST. Yes, the dead will rise on Halloween night this year, and I couldn't be happier about it.

According to the site, the series will kick off with a 90-minute premiere, then follow with 60-minute episodes. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Frank Darabont ("Shawshank Redemption," "The Mist"), the series has an initial six-episode order, but let's all cross our fingers and hope for more to follow, shall we?

Damn!

They did the same thing with Breaking Bad if I remember rightly?

Season one of Breaking Bad was cut short because of the writers strike.

Anyone notice the little girl in the trailer looks suspiciously like she's about to break into a run?

Yeah I was not exactly expecting 24 episodes or even 13, so 6 is about what I expected, I just imagined this as a very filmic vision and for reason never expected a long series.

I've read up to episode 36 and the Dixon brothers don't feature. I'm guessing they are new characters created for the TV adaptation.

Well I can't see it being possible to stay totally true to the comic storyline in any case, so I don't mind them adjusting the cast to suit so long as it stays true to the ethos of the original.

Frank Darabont has said that this is untrue, i'm afraid.

“Shooting in February? As tired as I am right now getting season one through post, I'd rather shoot myself,” Darabont tells Ain't It Cool.

The six-episode first season of “Walking Dead” launches Halloween night on AMC.
