But I still want to read the comic books - hopefully someone's picked up the compendium for me for Christmas - so either way, whether they've deviated or not, is it that hard to understand 'NO SPOILERS FROM THE COMIC PLEASE' from the thread title??

I'm all for this, you get two different ongoing story slants. Think most people would agree, its only going to annoy major diehards that want to see a comic frame by frame adaption. And if it annoys them that much they can stop watching it. problem sorted

I just wish they'd used different characters. It's weird having characters (some of which are the spitting image of the comic characters) having two storylines. They could easily have made this with a different set of people in the same world. It would have been excellent to then have the two stories cross over in the different media.
I frame by frame adaption was realistically never going to happen.

Big mistake
Me too - it sucks that people have put comic spoilers in here when the thread title specifically says don't.

The thread title was amended after the thread had already been running for a while IIRC.

Can someone answer this please...?

Was S1 Ep6 filmed in HD? I've got 5 recorded in HD but it misssed the 6th Ep (FXHD)

Looks like they're being shown back to back on Sunday 2nd Jan, but again only 5 Eps in HD. Ep 6 is on normal FX channel...

Ok yeah an answer of sorts! Do you know if it was/will be shown in HD here in the UK? And when?

S01E06 'TS-19' is on FX HD (in HD) on SkyHD channel 193 as part of the catch up on Sunday night. I've just checked my EPG and its definitely in HD.

enjoyed the 1st episode, find the rest pretty meh. It has no real direction at the end of season 1 - we needed some sort of "message from a beackon from the north" type thing.

not sure i would bother with season 2 unless it gets some direction to it.

The longer it's finished airing, the more forgettable I've realised it is. And this isn't coming from someone who was out to hate it from the start - I anticipated The Walking Dead since the first day it was announced, and in fact had a pretty big argument with a friend who stopped watching in the second episode... "give it time", I said!

But saying that, I won't give up on it. If it's true about Darabont sacking his writing staff, then that must show he's aware of the shows faults. It's not unusual for TV shows to have poor first seasons, only to really pick up steam from the second onward (Fringe, Parks and Recreation).

I enjoyed the whole series near enough, but it never again reached the heights of its pilot episode and that montage between the man's wife and the crawling zombie. Was hoping for more of that quality, alas never got it. The bloke left by a tree could have got it, but I feel they mismanaged it myself, the dialogue from the comics was better from what I saw.

Enjoyed it while it was on, but can't remember much of anything that happened between the bloke from Mallrats being left behind on the rooftop and the crew turning up at the CDC.

The end of the season was pretty grim. Even Shakespearian tragedies end with some degree of hope, but let's face it - these guys are ******!

I saw it in two batches & really enjoyed it. A few thing left hanging. What happened the the father & son from the first ep. And the guy who cut his hand off, he steals their van, & the next thing is the camp is invaded by zombies. It looked to me like he filled the van with zombies & took them to the camp for revenge, but maybe the makers had second thoughts & decided not to link the two things. I dunno, but the one handed (not very nice) man is out there. I never have read the comics.

The man who cut of his hand wasn't in the comics and also the camp was in walking distance of the city so the attack seemed more plausibly.

The US Blu-Ray release has been confirmed as being locked to Region A Nuts. Gotta wait until June now
