I enjoyed episode one and will be staying with this. When Rick went back to kill the legless zombie it was a moment of real pathos - unusual in this genre.

Just discovered the show's producer [and slight legend for her past work] Gale Anne Hurd on Twitter. Heres her profile pic, which is a pretty random behind the scenes one when you think of it...

Cheapest option is to get the Compendium though. It contains the first 48 issues (equivalent of the first four hardcovers or eight paperbacks).
Sweet. Will check out the first issue from Comixology and then get the compendium if it's for me.

This show sure makes me feel anxious, I like it and dislike it simultaneously. No decisions seem to be clear, everything is a dilema. All the rules of society are out the window and yet the characters try to hang on to their humanity.

AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ Renewed for 13 Episode Season Two as Second Episode = Big Ratings

(New York, NY – November 8, 2010) AMC announced today the renewal of “The Walking Dead” for a 13-episode second season. Since debuting Sunday, October 31, “The Walking Dead” has broken ratings records, with the series reaching more Adults 18-49 than any other show in the history of cable television.

Today’s announcement also includes Fox International Channels’ (FIC) global renewal for a second season, following record-breaking premiere ratings in 120 countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and The Middle East. “The Walking Dead” was the highest-rated original series premiere ever to air on FIC simultaneously worldwide.

Don't click the link if you haven't seen episode 2 yet, as the image may be considered a spoiler!

Great news about season 2. I think while the first six eps should cement it, it'll be a whole season that lets it spread its wings.

Solid second ep even with a new, non-book character.

Just seen the first episode and whilst it was pretty good, and I will keep watching ... IMHO most of the stuff in it you could see coming a mile off

But as I say - still pretty good and head shots galore

Just to be clear, the comic writer says in his prologue that he loves Romero's zombie movies, but his problem is that he wants to know what happens after the films finish. His intention with this series of comics is to follow his characters right to the end - he says that by the end we should have nothing more we want to know about them.
For this reason, the first few issues of the comic are pretty standard zombie stuff. It's once you get past this that the comics really start to come into their own. There's some very shocking and interesting stuff to come!

is one episode equal to one comic? if the first series is only 6 episodes long does that mean it covers the first 6 comic books?

Seems more or less about right, thought there are a few things mixed around.

If you google "walking dead issue 2" the first link will let you read the first 20 or so issues of the comic. Though I strongly recommend picking up the books and enjoying them properly.

Not sure if this counts as a spoiler, but I've hidden it just in case. Concerns the structure of this season.
