Just played through it now and it's definitely in 5.1. The music is in the rear speakers during the intro song and then I could hear birds in the background in the talk between Rick and his friend...

Could it be down-mixing to pro-logic?

The version I saw (720p from CTU) was most definitely 2.0, but my amp did a good job with the DPLII - didn't really notice too much difference to usual - certainly still packed a punch, and still had some nice placement for rear effects/music etc.

I think it is probably downmixing to DPLII as FlangeMonkey says. I can't see iTunes selling a version in stereo if DD5.1 is available. Odd for a new show to only be shot in stereo when other shows on the network are in 5.1.

Ah, that must be it. It's a pretty impressive job my amp is doing then! Technology eh?

Oh and I'm watching the show through again now... noticed another blooper - Rick gets shot in the upper arm, almost near the shoulder. Yet when he wakes up and walks around the bandage is around his lower abdomen, at the bottom of his ribcage?

Not unless the shotgun slug made a ~60 degree turn when it entered his body lol. Also you see it go clean through from the side and then his partner has his hands near his shoulder to stop the blood

Honestly man, who really cares. You could pick holes in anything if you really tried. Life is too short to get hung up on a tv show.

In the one I saw, he was shot in the abdomen, at the bottom of his ribcage, first of all, which was stopped by the vest and then shot again in the side/back, under his armpit? Nowhere near his arm? I figured the first one broke a few ribs and the other one did internal damage.

Watch him when he gets up from the first bullet hit - he's clutching his abdomen same as he is later.

Can't believe we are arguing semantics for a show that has dead people walking

Not seen the show, but in the comic this sequence is shown from Rick's experience [not POV] - anything he doesn't know, you don't know.

I love the "Rage infected monkies" comment in the background of Shaun of the Dead though

Why is it that in every Zombie movie, buildings get ransacked and all the wiring is pulled down? These zombies barely move and I don't think they would go "omg let's pull all these cables down!"

I've always assumed thats happened in the panic of people trying to get away when whatever happens first kicks off.

Anyone know how much grue there is ? And whether there's boobies ?

We only get the sanitised "made-for-airline" type versions over here - not that I'm obsessed with either grue or boobies, but the cuts are often very heavy-handed. If it's an 18-cert I may have to give the broadcast version a miss.

No boobies but the grue is standard Zombie stuff... entrails, half bodies, chunks missing from bodies etc

If it follows the books closely, expect to see 5 minutes out of an hour's episode! There's some tough stuff down the line.
