The good news about this and the whole River Song thing is that it stops two rumors that were doing the rounds about this series.
One is that Mat wont be Doctor 11, but a young Doctor 1, and two there will be a massive re-set button in the last RTD/Tennant special which will lead to a re-boot.

But - I always thought she knew the Tennant Doctor, which doesn't fit so well unless she appears right at the end of this series...which I doubt.

No, she knows it's the Doctor, but it's pretty obvious that she doesn't have any idea about how old he is/which Doctor he is until she gets a good look at him.

Is it official that its november, I thought that at the end of POTD that they said he'd return in the summer.

November seems late and doesn't seem to qualify as summer ?

it was stated that the dr would be back later in the year. read somewhere it would be end of november so the gap to the final 2 wasn't as big and they could ramp up the hype to fever pitch...

RTD said in an interview in tha past week, that everyone expects Waters of mars to be for Halloween, but that it won't be as it won't be ready by then. He said to expect November.

Yep I'd say Children in Need time because that's generally on on Dr Who's anniversary.

On a related note, what is happening to the Sarah Jane production team now that Davies has gone? And would he still be "doing" Torchwood assuming it's coming back, which it is?

RTD is still involved with this series 3 of SJA, and has said before he would like to do more Torchwood. As opposed to Doctor Who, both shows were created by him (although obviously SJA has an existing non RTD created character), and both are very much his shows.
