Have to agree with you there. Something was very dodgy with the whole thing.

He'd clearly stopped singing for ages if you know the song.

Really? What would you have done?

Didn't even watch the clip with sound. It was obvious at which point he quit.

There was no "What's going on here?" reaction from the band or "Let's see if he means it", just straight off. Now maybe if he has previous for this, they know it's all over but it doesn't seem like a normal reaction to me.

He just seems like a knobber to me, I have had things throw at me and I did not cry like a 3 year old child and storm away at the cost of tens of thousands of pounds, leaving a massive amount of fans gutted. The guy should not be on stage if he cannot take a plastic bottle tossed at him, I have seen far worse happen to acts, none of them battered an eye.

They carried on, he stopped, dusted himself off and said goodnight. Watch it with sound at least before the detailed commentary!

Romero. Do you have things thrown at you in the workplace? Actually, forget that, you probably do, the tea tray.

Try counting the seconds between him saying "Goodnight" & the guitars coming off. I would suggest that the natural reaction from the band would be to stop playing & see what happened next, not to down tools immediately.

The Guardian has an action shot
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musi...walks-offstage

There's a commenter there says that security did pull the bottle-thrower out of the crowd after everyone pointed him out so I don't see why he could not be ejected / beaten up / whatever, and the show then gone on. You can see in the video that the stage hand runs out to give Morrissey a towel and then decides he doesn't need it so goes to retrieve and clear the bottle from the stage instead.

What a muppet, all he's done is ensure that people will try and get him out within one song at a future gig, and if he keeps walking off people will just stop going, with the cost of hotels etc it's just too risky. Maybe he has made all the money he wants to make so doesn't care but in that case he should just retire.

yes - but my interpretation is that the band have seen this before, and know what to do. They may even have an ('unwritten') rule to all leave together if such a thing happens.

I do think it's very bad for the fans, and would have absolutely hated to have been there and experienced it.

But from the occasional Moz interviews I've seen, he seems to really need to feel the love from the audience to put in a good show. So something like this would really turn him off and lead to a lacklustre performance at best - something he's not prepared to do, I guess.

Well it also could be one MASSIVE advert for the old crooner to drum up CD sales, as it is in every paper, magazine, news channel and website. So it worked.

A mate of mine and his wife went to the gig and were gutted when it ended so early

Morrissey should watch Bad News at Monsters Of Rock in 1986 to see how to cope with bottle throwing

Festivals I can see it happening but at his own gig? Bit odd isn't it. He's hardly The Sex Pistols.

It's Muse. (not that it matters much)

Morrissey is being a silly old so and so i fail to see how this is making music any more or less exciting.

He's not setting the world alight but then, when has he on his solo career. I think his continued arsey behaviour is great, lets face it, he's consistent.

Muse.
