This sounds like fun and I feel like I'm missing out, listening to you lot chat about it!

A couple of questions:

Where's the cheapest place to buy this? On the PSN store, or online somewhere?

Secondly, is this the same as Out of Bounds golf, which has had some blindingly good reviews...

Thanks chaps!

Don't make the same mistake I made, getting it from a eBay for £28. Despite being a "UK" seller, it took TWO weeks to arrive & when it did (today) it was the Japanese version (Hot Shots Golf) .... I assume this is exactly the same & won't affect me when playing online?

Did they list it as HSG or EG? Cos if they listed it as the latter surely thats breaking some ebay rule?

Had my first proper session this evening. Won the first four events with ease, then unlocked Sophie playing against her. Then won the first event on the unlocked course. Decided to be brave & dipped my toes online. The Lobby system is Nintendo-daft, but effective. Tried a 9-hole tournament (No power-mode) ... 18 participants ... they were all using characters i hadn't even heard of & had loyalty points in double-figures, and there was poor little me with ZERO loyalty due to using the unlocked Sophie.

Amazingly, with a -5 score, I managed to finish in 5th place, helped by a 58yd chip-in Eagle on the 6th, got some "Impressive Eagle!" comments from most the other players.

Was well chuffed even though I didn't get a podium place, was just hoping to avoid N00b embarrassment. The time-limit that's imposed for each hole is frighteningly quick though. Is it like that for each tournament? .... Most times I was holing out with only a few seconds left on the clock.

Anyways, the game is superb, consider me well & truly Hooked.

Challenge mode is still ummm not very challenging. Now upto Semi-Pro, unlocked the European course, all the novice players + 1 intermediate & upto Level 6.

When does it get more difficult? ... I'm averaging -4/-5 on the 9-hole challenges, even managed a -10 on one of the "Big-Cup" 9-hole courses.

Does the DLC content (players & new course) integrate into the Challenge mode?

Also, what's everyone's current level/offline/online rating?

I haven't played it that much apart from online, but I've been using the same character and I've got to the third level of Challenge mode which probably isn't very far.

Challenge mode has been very easy so far but I assume it gets more difficult based on the name of the mode.

It definitely gets more difficult - platinum (the last level) is actually pretty difficult... I don't think I struggled much up to semi-pro either.

It's not a hugely difficult game, but it definitely gets tougher....

I can definitely vouch for it getting tougher, the Silver Peaks course was a right pain!

Just been playing on semi-pro & the introduction of the European course has made things a little more tricky. Still undefeated but my scores had dropped to -2/-3.

Now upto Pro status (Level 8) & unlocked the Safari course. Despite the easyness of it, i'm still loving it.

Single-player challenge mode definitely getting trickier now. Reached "Bronze" & currently level 10, unlocked the fifth course but not played it yet.

Regarding the player stats, which do you all prefer? .. I've found that "Control" seems the most important, the lower it is, the more random your shot positions get, which obviously isn't helpful with the latter, tighter courses.

Also, does anyone bother with the OTT super back-spin shots that burn trails in the grass? ... I've did a couple of minor ones, but no "homing" hit-the-pin fantasy shots yet. I also read that you can skip over water with super top-spin shots?!? ... Madness!!!

I'm not far enough into the game (challenge mode) and haven't got these super shots yet. I'm on the third tier of challenge mode and only unlocked the second course but I have purchased the DLC course. Not played enough to really judge but getting good distance and reasonable control seem like the best combination. I only really add topspin when driving or doing an approach shot. I really need to dedicate a bit more time to progressing in the single player part of the game.

Really enjoying this game, but couple of things I don't understand, one isn't in the manual at all, and the other's not very well explained.

1. When you use the advanced shot system, sometimes there's a little graphic of a tortoise or a rabbit at the point of impact - what's that all about?

2. To apply spin, when are you supposed to use the up, down, left, right on the d-pad? At point of impact? During upswing? And do you tap the directional button, or hold it?

Thanks!!

I always assumed the tortoise meant you were late pressing the button, and the hare meant you pressed it too soon... But you're right, I've never seen an official explanation either!

As for spin I held it, and to do super spin you press one way at the top of the upswing, and then the opposite direction during impact.

I think the turtle is when you press the button too early, causing a slice ... and vice-versa with the rabbit. Also when applying spin using the d-pad, it only works if you hit the ball perfectly.
