Just tried online for the first time. The whole clubhouse / floor thing is a bit confusing, and I couldn't grasp how to enter tournaments (a lot of tournaments wouldn't let me enroll despite saying 0/50 places taken).

But when I got into a custom 4 player game I had a blast. There did seem to be quite a strict time limit for each hole, which meant I had to skip the animations to get to my next shot, but I'm not sure if this can be configured or not (probably a host setting I think). One guy got booted because he took too long to make his shot, which was a bit unforgiving!

Great game though!

really fun and addictive like the psp version..good stuff. Booking slot times to play online is bizarre..but could be fun for a tourny or few.

Picked up my copy from PCW (£29 once I price matched it not £27 since that both PSP and PS3 versions of it from the same shop for less than £30 ) so I'll install it now.

Judging from the amount of posts above, a lot of DVDF'ers have this so a think an online game thread is warranted?

I've played the first four career tournaments. Great.

Install is ridiculous though, and really shows how **** poor that Blu-Ray drive is in speed terms. 20 minutes to install 4gb?

Bizarre how some of the single player tournaments force you to use the new advanced mode to progress.... I'm happy using the old method thank you very much, why do I have to play using a control method I don't actually like!?

Just had my first 50 player tourney, was good fun but very cumbersome booking into a tourney and waiting, waiting waiting.

Just finished 18th out of 44 in my first tourny. The waiting is a bind and so is finding your friends, its ok pressing select to see the list but when you go tothe find a player area you have to remember how to spell it and you can't just pick a player you know.

Yep it's a nightmare. Seems to be something you need to plan in advance (i.e. meet me in floor 6, lobby 6 at xx:xx, etc.)

Beauty of a game like this is that you don't really require a lot of bandwidth to have a good game.

T4V, I think custom games can support up to 8 people (but you have the bonus of seeing everyone take their shots 'live' on the course) so if we have more than eight interested parties we might be better off just signing up for a future tournament (well in advance so we all get in!)

How come PCW price matched it? Gameplay's not on their list of sites, is it? Or am I being thick...

Edit: Gamestation is £29.99 too...I see now Might pick this up tomorrow after I take Viking back.

Stop saying nice things about this! I haven't bought it because i've got GT5P & GoW PSP this weekend & haven't started God of War yet because i've been playing GT mostly.... almost got my £17.50 worth already! (I can't say that in the proper thread. ).

Anyway as much i enjoyed the demo, i just don't think i've got time for this. I do like the idea of booking Tee Off times in advance. Is the putting identical to the demo? I found that a little awkward to judge.

What playing/control style does everybody select? Are the lobbys/tournaments set to one particular method only?

:edit:

Last question! Can 2 or more people play online using the same PS3?

I'm using advanced shots - pretty easy to get the hang of, and while I struggled with putting on the demo I'm getting the hang of it now (same system).

It's brilliant. You know you want it
