Anyone use an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 soundcard?

I was thinking of getting one of these for MIDI and sound recording use on my PC at home (I have a MIDI keyboard and want to get back into the whole recording lark)...anyone else got one?

I've heard that this is a good card for MIDI recording...I play games on my PC too so I was hoping someone could confirm/deny whether it plays back sounds for gaming reasonably well.

I've currently got a Soundblaster Live 5.1, about 3-4 years old.

Any other recommendations for decent sound recording/playback soundcards would be welcome. Not looking to break the bank, mind, as my girlfriend may be forced to buy this for me for Christmas

probably your best bet at this price range is that exact card. Everybody who I know has one says it's great.

I'd suggest the Emu 0404.

Should be available for around the same price as the 24/96, which is getting a bit long in the tooth and has been superceeded by the M-Audio Audiophile 192 (basically a 24/96 that records at 192 - the 0404 can do 192 also).

Thanks both. Good shout Mr. Nick, I'll check out the Emu card. Hadn't seen that one mentioned. I'll check the spec of the 192 as well.

I've got an audiophile 192 and its stunning.
Got ASIO latency in Cubase and a p4 3ghz down to a ridiculous 3ms with no glitching.Converters are sweet as anything I've heard.....even high end stuff.

and m-audio drivers are rock solid.

IIRC the Audiophile 192 is approximately £100 and at that price there are other cards I'd look at.

I got my 0404 from Inta Audio for £66 delivered which was the best price by far at the time.

Thanks again Mr. Nick for the Inta Audio website. Am I right in thinking the EMU or M-AUDIO cards would knock my Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! 5.1 into touch for music production?

I'll take that as a resounding "yes"!
