Question Couple of CD-WOW HK questions!

I just realised how cheap R1 dvd's are from the Hong Kong site, in particular i'm thinking of ordering 21 Grams from them. I've held off so far to see what DVDSoon will offer. Couple of things I was wondering tho, so if people could you've used them for R1 dvd's that would be good.

When do they charge your credit card? When you order or when they ship?

What are they like for releasing R1 discs early? Do they ship a few weeks or so before like other places?

How long does shipping normally take for them?

Cheers.

Charge CC when ordered due to them using worldpay instead of their own method of payment processing.

They sometimes have been known to release a few disks early, sometimes the opposite...

shipping can take from 3-7 days in my experience, ... just depends on luck

Do you want the disks Early or Cheap ??? wanting both is a bit 'greedy' !!??

But with CDWOW you sometimes get both :-)

The HK site provides exactly the same service as the UK site - only difference is that you're billed in HK$. All CD-Wow stock is sent from Hong Kong, regardless of the site you place your order on. The same people handle enquiries, and your login works on all the sites - showing the same information.

As above, shipping can take 3 to 7 days - in my experience usually 3 days. They take payment immediately when you place the order. They rarely release items early - I've had on occasion them email me on day of release to say they're out of stock, and that they'll ship in five days, two days later they'd ship.

21 grams is up for pre-order @ DVDSoon now for $25 CAD (£10.60 ish?) - even cheaper if you order a few other titles and get free shipping and $10 off!

Cheers for the info fellas. I ordered with them once i saw DVDSoon's price. I only really buy bout 2 or 3 titles a month so there weren't titles enough available for me to get the free shipping. Seems like its gonna be hit and miss with DVDSoon on price now, though they did take Matrix Rev down after a while so they might do the same with 21 Grams. I'll wait and see.

And on that note what are CD-WOW like for cancelling orders? Are they prompt in refunding to your CC? cheers.

I've cancelled a few times - most recently on a Sunday morning, they replied within half an hour!

One thing I've just realised after blindly ordering from the HK site for ages now...

I'm most likely getting a nice fee from Egg for a foreign transaction (hidden in their exchange rate), which wipes out the cheaper price (I've yet to compare my statement to the price though).

Has anyone else realised this, considering how everyone praises ordering from the HK site to make it that little bit cheaper?

The percentage added by your card company WAS much less than the discount from hk. so you were easily better off. Except now - since they've put the HK prices up.

I've just checked and it's 2.65% apparently. Just about all cards will charge commission like this.

I've just ordered the new Air CD/DVD which at 125 HK$ works out at £8.77, compared to £8.99 on the UK price.

Add on 2.65% to £8.77, and that makes it £9, so 1p more expensive than the UK price

It is listed at US$13.95 ( £7.64 ) on the CDWowUSA site.
