Star Trek : The Next Generation Season 5

Has been given a certificate 12 for one of the first four episodes. Anyone know why this has happened as when they were released on video they were rated PG. Is there a cut that was made to them previously that has now been waived.

Dont mean to be rude but who gives a ****? So long as I have the collection I dont care if they were 18's or X-rated. The only episode to be rated 12 in the entire TNG collection was Redemption Part II (first episode in season 5), but was released as a PG TV movie on VHS. So I dont have a clue, most likely there is material in that episode that had to be re-evaluated for DVD release.

I got my set today and was suprised that it has been given a '12'. I can't believe that there is anything in any of the episodes that has resulted in it getting a 12

It could be due to the menus or something, seems odd though.

Perhaps there is something in the supplemental material that warranted giving the box a 12 rating. This is just an idea, I haven't yet watched the extras so I cannot say for sure.

Looking on the BBFC site, it's Redemption part II which earned the 12 cert. There on no listing of a previous classification of Redemption part II, there are 2 entries for Redemption as a whole, one 83 mins the other 87, but both are PG certs listed as uncut.

All I was asking was why this release has been given a 12 rating as opposed to the PG it was given on video as I was just interested in knowing why. And you have answered my query with this, but you have also stated that Redemption Part II should have been a 12 but was released as a PG on video in the past so obviously this was either cut before or has been re-evaluated for DVD. Certainly it is not the extras that have warranted a 12 as the 12 certificate is only on the first disc.

Well, after watching the episode for the first time in a while, I think I've got the answer as to why the PG was bumped up to a 12. In the first ten minutes of the show there are around eight of those dreaded, earth-shattering headbutts, so I guess a few years ago they didn't scare the BBFC as much as they do now.

Obiwan and Jdango could learn from the Klingons! They know how to fight!

No no, I didn't say it should have been a 12, it was a 12. But the whole TV movie Parts 1 and 2 were released on 1 video that was rated a PG...But not sure what the difference between the video and the DVD's are
