Talking The best hand-held weapon in film history

There have been several hand held weapons - mostly guns - that have carved (or shot ) their own niche in film history. An example is 'Dirty' Harry Callghan's Magnum, the pulse-rifle in Aliens and so on. There are others that are not as well known or remembered but awe-inspiring all the same.

So which one is your favourite hand-held weapon of all time in films?

The shotgun/chainsaw combo of Ash Williams. Does that count?

A few of my favourites:

Kiddo's Hattori Hanzo sword (Kill Bill).
Ball point pen (Gross Pointe Blank).
Noisy Cricket (Men in Black).
This is a knife (Crocodile Dundee).
Walthar PPK (all the Bond films).
The sound wave gun (Minority Report).
The people exploder (District 9).

But the undoubted winner:

The Light Saber.

You said it. That one is my absolute favourite too. I believe it is a General Electric XEM214 'Minigun'. I love the way it 'sings' when Blain uses it. I confess that while watching Predator, I felt more sorry when that gun fell silent than for anyone or anything else.

If it is hand held and kills people, it counts.

Lightsabre. No contest really.

though the Joker's pencil in Batman: TDK gets an honourable mention.

The literal hand-gun flesh meld in Videodrome. "Long live the New Flesh"

I'm surprised no one mentioned Hellboy's 'Big Baby' gun.

Oh, and of course the fire extinguisher in Irreversible.

That blade thingy in 'Krull'. Or the discs in Tron. A couple of my faves.

I love the M41A Pulse rifles from Aliens and I've always wanted one, but the models are too expensive for me.

Having just watched District 9, I thought the weapons in that were awesome. Especially liked the smaller "push" gun.

Maybe. The question is, which would you rather have rammed into your face?

The shotgun in the flowers is always cool in T2 (and Arnie reloading one handed from the back of his Harley) even if it was ripped-off completely from Hard Boiled.
