That was fantastic, this is my just watch show off the week. Seeing Jerry Ryan again was a treat and her character has come on leaps and bounds between the end of Voyager and now.

Loved the silly costumes reminded me of episodes like the Bride of Chotica or Our Man Bashir.

Good to hear this is breaking all of CBSAA records and they have officially announced that there are two additional shows in the works and a feature film. I am absolutely loving this show.

What movie?

Without viewing figures as you get with regular broadcast shows its impossible to tell how popular Picard truly us CBSAA signup figures won't take into account people trying the free week or those who signed up then cancelled

As you seem to love a show that is nothing like Trek of old in tone or quality what are some of your favourite TNG DS9 TOS VOY and ENT episodes?

please don't try to gatekeep what people can or cannot like, it's childish and arrogant. If you don't like it fine, but people don't have to explain to you why they do.

I don't need something to be like old Trek. I have been watching Trek since the 80s and have over 700 old Trek episodes to enjoy whenever I want.

Everything has to evolve, continuing to keep doing the same thing over and over again killed the franchise.

Not trying to gatekeep but Picard does not match the likes of the Balance of Terror, The Doomsday Machine, Best of Both Worlds, Way Of The Warrior, In A Mirror Darkly etc. Just wanted some context on why people think it's so great and you know they might point out things I missed which may make me change my mind

judging by most of your posts on the tv and movie threads, nothing will change your mind once you've decided (said with respect btw)

Just for the record I love the Orville as well. I watch family guy and American Dad so find Seth's humour absolutely fine.

He is a bit out of his depth on the Orville but considering how good that show is I have no problem with it.

The Orville is miles better than both STD and Picard.

Well this is taking a turn for the worst isn't it?

What the **** was that mess? It was like someone watched the 5th Element.

It doesn't feel like Star Trek in the slightest now, just a messy standard modern sci fi show with people in it playing roles incomprehensible to the ones they've played before.

of course but its how you do it. imo you need to keep the basic ideals of the show or another series with the name slapped on eg Dr who reboot with drunken, sweary Dr that acts like a dick to everyone.

I do think the problem is the writers and alex kluztman as battlestar took a campy 70's show (and bad 80's show) and took into a new direction, not every episode was great but it was amazing out of the gate

Wow I don't think a show has gone south so fast, hardly anything makes sense now. RLM's theory is clearly correct.

I gave up after last week. It had clearly lost the plot, literally.
