Birds Of Prey (& the Fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn)

First Trailer:

It's got a decent cast & Robbie was probably the best thing about Suicide Squad, but wow that looks bad. Terrible music choice too.

Agreed. Looks weird and all over the place. DC movies always seem to suffer from trying way too hard to look and sound good, that it comes across as forced.

And yeah the music was weird.

looks a bit odd this. How come harley quinn can look like harley quinn but nobody else is allowed to look like their characters? even black mask appears to be missing, well his black bloody mask...

on the surface it just looks like they are running with the success of harley quinn and balls to anything else...

Trailer 2:

Massive improvement on the first trailer. Dare I say it actually looks quite fun?

I actually thought the trailer made it look even worse than the first trailer did!

Agreed, no wonder they had to get the guy from john wick in to fix this. It still looks crap the cartoon has done a far better job

I think if they go the way of the cartoon, ie it's an adult film it might have a chance, if they don't, I think we can all see how it will turn out.

And it was mostly enjoyable. I would have preferred if “the first gay marvel villain” had actually been gay in some actual explicit way but apart from that criticism it was mostly good. I expected the ladies to team up (based on trailers) far earlier than they actually did.

Meh.

First half poor and try-hard'y. Second half better but still nowhere near Marvel's level. Some good fight scenes but most of the characters in it were utterly repellent, including Harley Quinn.

If we cannot have a comic book or Arkham game accurate outfit for Harley don't see why you should get explicit stuff you want #notmyharley

I found it really average.

The whole movie felt a bit amateurish. I quite liked the style of the first 20 or so minutes (dream sequences, the sped up bits, non linear story etc). Then about 30 mins in that style just stops and it actually looks like a TV show instead of a movie.

McGregor steals every scene he's in.

Renaming it won't make much difference

Harley Quinn: Birds Of Prey

Sorry but Harley Quinn as is would never carry a movie on her own. And having never read the birds of prey comics (like probably many haven't) none of the other characters supporting her really make you want to see this.

Black Mask I only know from the Arkham game

Had they teamed her up with Poison Ivy or Catwoman this movie might have had a chance but the lame costumes have to go. The stills from the new suicide squad don't inspire much confidence of ever getting a comic or cartoon or game accurate outfit.

Well I really enjoyed it. The tone of the visuals was beautiful, the fights were nicely done and Margot was fun!

Did you also like Batman Forever and Batman and Robin? some reviews say that this has a similar tone to those movies.

For the record I hated those movies.

I enjoyed this as well. Looks colourfully and is well shot, top notch action, the police station fight is great. The end fight is not a good, as it's a bit all over the place. But generally it worked and there's some great laughs. The 'ring' joke bit was nicely done... skips a usual trope.

Reminded me a lot of Dead Pool..

Shame it's crashed at the box office. It is probably the best DCU film after Shazam. Wonder Woman was fairly boring, Birds of Prey was not boring.... WW1984 looks a lot better though.

8/10.. would re-watch.
