Well, I've watched all the episodes, so I'm up to date...It's ok but I feel I'm missing something that would make it brilliant.

So Den of Geek run an article on working out the jokes per minute in this, but I've not laughed once at it. I find some of the sci fi premises interesting, but I just don't find it funny.

I find it promising but I get the feeling it's me that's missing something which is why I think it's ok...not great....rather than it just being ok.

So I think it's ok....I think my opinion is wrong but for some reason, I can't see what others see

Comedy is necessarily subjective. If you don't find it funny, then it's not funny to you. Nothing right or wrong about it.

... Though I don't see how you could not laugh at something like the ending of "Something Ricked This Way Comes", where Rick and Summer decide to take revenge on Satan by getting all roided up and simply kicking the **** out of him.

I'm with Old Skool, I really like Rick & Morty but that's more for the SF concepts, only rarely do I find it actually funny, but the couple of times I have its been brilliant as joined to a SF concept. It doesn't make me laugh every episode but does amuse me.

Newest episode was like the entirety of The Wire condensed into a half hour. Ambitious stuff, although difficult to follow!

The next Rick and Morty? Doubtful but it does star Justin.

My brother recommended this to me, but 4 eps in to S1, I just wasn't feeling it. As others said, it's interesting for the scifi ideas but amusing rather than ROFL-ing, and some scenes/eps are a bit too zany & frenetic for me.

After consultation, I gave the 'Pickle Rick' ep a watch before ditching ... AWESOME! And now I am able to watch S1 with fresh eyes and appreciate this a whole lot more. I actually really like the more poignant family scenes too - more, please!

So for anyone who is in 2 minds about this show, be sure to check out S03E03 'Pickle Rick' for some extreme 80s-style ott action and a thoughtful Susan Sarandon therapist. In fact, I'd say it's a must-watch for any film/TV fan. 20 mins of animated perfection.

(Watching one of the clips, above, I wonder if part of the overall problem with not 'getting it' or even 'liking it' that much, is a lack of chemistry between the 2 leads, somehow, seeing as they are voiced by the same guy [I didn't know till then]. Maybe the dynamism and riffing that you'd get between 2 actors is missing?)

Must admit, I was the same Season 1, really was a "mehh...not bothered" season for me too, but as it had been thoroughly recommended, I watched Season 2, and loved it! Pickle Rich is awesome

I don't think you get actors riffing much on animations or there being a chemistry between them. For most animations the voice actors do their recordings at different times so even if there are two voice actors in one scene the chances are that they were not in the same room for the recording. A lot of shows also have actors voicing multiple characters who could be talking to each other. For example Dan Castellanetta and Hank Azaria do loads of characters in The Simpsons and Seth MacFarlane voices about half of Family Guys cast.

Yes, that's a good point. It might just be down to the voice actor then, although I certainly didn't guess it was the same guy doing both. I'm still unsure what it is - there's a sortof single 'tone' to the voices, that seems too 'earnest' somehow, so I can only watch 2 (max 3) eps in a row.

Season 4 began in the US last night. E4 had scheduled the new series to start here in January next year, but they've responded to the fan backlash and will now broadcast it next week! I'm not sure I've ever heard of anything like that happening before.

Channel 4 just confirmed that they do not need to calm down... as they got what they wanted.

.. alternatively point of view. How clueless are channel 4 to pay money to purchase a show and then not realise that every single viewer will want to use the internet and talk to other people around the world who are also watching the show. Clearly they had no legal or contractual reason to not air it at the same time in UK. You can only assume that the people scheduling the channel have absolutely zero idea on what people want to watch. Especially when they outbid Netflix for it.

That's just common sense from Channel 4. Are their execs living in 1990 or something? What did they think would happen when a show like this airs a couple of months in advance. It was such a weird decision.

I also enjoyed it, it was ****** nuts. actually laughed a couple of times but not much (I don't generally fine Rick & morty that funny). The diss of Summer at the end was one of the lines that made me laugh.
