Well the latest promo with Book Barbarian went pretty well, especially with the Amazon.com market.

At one point it got to #1 in the SciFi Genetic Engineering charts and #5 in Dystopian, so not too bad at all!

All I need now is to get future customers to want to pay for it (or Geek:Life to review it)

I'd hit the 'thanks' button but this thread doesn't seem to have them...
Thanks!

Have you got another novel in you? Maybe write off the first one to get some recognition and maybe you'll have more luck selling the second one.

I'm currently planning a sequel to IVL and also a young adult story about predeterminsim.
The main thing is trying to promote this one (which includes having to review lots of books for other people) is taking most of what little spare time I have, so I might have to cut it loose after my current commitments and just get typing again.
At least I've finished Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition now so that's 200 hrs I don't have to re-spend

Yay another 4* review! This time from a book contest I entered a while back.

"...Ed Ryder’s description of this alternate reality is fantastic; its intrigue and mystery keeps it interesting throughout..."

Only sold a couple of hundred and a bit so far (including KENP book equivalents) so I don't think I'll be making JK Rowling lose much sleep just yet
To be honest with so many books out there a lot of it is just blind luck. If someone with a large social media following spreads the word (if they liked it anyway!) then that can help a lot. Paid promotions are a must for new authors too for any kind of traction - I'm well in the red as far as making a profit goes!

Still, I'm very fortunate to have a thread here, so thanks everyone at Digital Fix!

So after spending most of this year either on promotion, other projects, getting disillusioned with marketing, then getting re-illusioned in story telling after watching WestWorld, I've now started writing part 2 of IVL!
Four years have passed since the events of In Vitro Lottery. A new arrival to Britain hopes for a better future, and Kate is in a posh garden drinking wine with someone unexpected whilst a small child sings Oranges and Lemons. What the hell is going on?? Whatever it is, you can bet it's about to get a lot worse...

I have one minor edit to finish on the original (Word text-to-speech is amazing at picking up stuff my brain and a few other people failed to spot last time) and then it's focus-time on part 2.

Part 1 will be on free promotion again on the 28-29th December, so an ideal time to grab a copy!

I'll definitely be reading this. Really enjoyed In Vitro Lottery.

I may be back to you for some ideas on promotion because I'm currently on the 2nd draft of my book now. Plan is to spend 3 months sending it off to agents (why not go for the million to one shot?) and then if nothing comes of that, publish on Amazon.

Do you get stats on how many people have read the book?

My wife has aspirations to be a romantic novelist, and I've suggested sending it to some publishers first before going down the kindle route.
