Question The Walking Dead

After Mr Majestik mentioned this in the Zombieland thread, i'm interested to find out more...

Found these on Amazon are they the best way of reading them all?

Good series?

I own all 4 currently available hardcovers. They are released less frequently than the cheaper paperbacks as they contain 12 issues each over the 6 in the paperbacks. They also contain supplementary material.

It all comes down to if you can wait for the hardcovers to come out. The two paperback collections that make up the 5th HC are already out I believe, while the Volume 5 HC isnt along till January.

I bought the compendium Volume 1 a few months ago and for someone thats not read any of them this is probably your best best.
1000 pages of zombie fun

Not sure if this is the cheapest price but it'll give you an idea:-

Volume 5 Hardcover coming in january. There are 10 paperbacks, and the single compendium which collates the contents of the first 8 paperbacks/4 hardcovers

Volume 11 paperback out in december. This would form the first half of the 6th hardcover.

They're brilliant, brilliant books. These and Watchmen have got me 'into' reading Graphic Novels. Be aware, it's a very expensive slippery-slope.

So the hardbacks in the Amazon link would be fine, i'm not in a hurry to get them all i'll need to read em first?

But the amazon ones are ok? How many volumes will there be altogether or are they still writing them?

Cheers

Yup, I have the version in the amazon link. They are slightly larger format than the paperbacks and very sturdy.

The comic is still ongoing, with no end date set. It is literally the zombie movie that never ends!

Thats what I paid for mine. Got 1, 2 and 4 from amazon, but at the time 3 was out of print and so had to order it from my local comic shop for full price.
During this waiting period for it to show up I went to Forbidden Planet in London and saw it in there for about Ł40!

Brilliant series, seems to very successfully draw in non-comics readers.

I persoanlly buy the tradepaperbacks as they collect less issues but come out more regually (volume 11 has just been solicited for January release).

There's a bit fo a bigger gap between the hardcovers getting released, which would do my head in but TM doesn't mind

The bumper compendium of the first 48 issues of the Walking Dead has been reprinted and is now available again through some of the forum affiliates. The last printing sold out very quickly, so get it while you can - I think it collects the first 8 of the regular trade paperbacks.

Walking Dead Compendium 31.20 at BookDepository

Walking Dead Compendium at Amazon for 38.25

I collect the hardbacks - the wait inbetween is annoying, but it gives me a good excuse to re-read the previous book to remind me what happened.

Me too, but at 45 I knew it would be cheaper at bookdepository or at a push, amazon USA were doing it with shipping for about 32-32.

Finished book 5

Where can i get the actual comic online or in the uk any suggestions, as dont usually buy comics?

How much they usually go for?

Book 5 goes up to 60 and by looks of things they are up to 72...

If you can't wait, books 11 and 12 of the paperback series will catch you up, and then you can just order the new issues from your local comic shop. Back issues quite tricky to come by, of any comic, these days
