Thanks.
Don't really care about the voice search stuff but ... I have a non-hub version of the Harmony remote so as long as the basic functionality is still IR then I am happy.
It was no end of grief getting it to control the Fire Stick - finally only got it working via a USB dongle

Bluetooth, its quite funny watching the wife trying to aim the remote around someone despite being told multiple times.

Bugger - so my Harmony remote won't work Though it seems to exist in the Logitech Harmony device database and Googling suggests both the box and remote work with IR ??

Anyone else finding some Sky channels are really really quiet? My mother watches UKDrama or whatever it’s called and has to put the volume almost up to full. Now she is going deaf but I’ve been in at the time and it’s not her it’s genuinely very low.
Thinking of buying her a Soundbar, I take it if her TV has a ARC socket (which I imagine she’s got I have checked) it’ll be controlled by the TVs remote?

Yep. Occasionally I have to put the sound up to 100 when most of the times I am on 20-30 ish.
Never spotted a pattern to the channel it’s on.

I have the subs on most of the time as the sound can be very inconsistent.

My SkyQ remote is bluetooth apart from the MUTE and VOL +/- buttons which don't seem to work if the remote is covered up (under the bed covers), whereas everything else does.

I don’t have SkyQ so I couldn’t completely comment on this but that would make sense as they need to control the TV which doesn’t have Bluetooth...?

Yeah you're probably right. My TV does have Bluetooth but likely doesn't connect to the remote.

So this could be interesting ... Sky Q installation is due on Tuesday.
Just got a phone call reminder from Sky saying "did you read the text message saying the engineer can't enter the house?". Nope, well I skimmed through it. There is no access to the dish ( where I believe a new box needs attaching for Sky Q ) here without spending about 2 seconds walking 3m straight through an extension.
The rest of the installation ( swapping out the Sky HD box and installing the mini boxes ) I am happy to do - even Sky say that buying new mini boxes are DIY.
Just hope we have a non-jobsworth engineer

Not sure if it's still a problem, but check if they are installing a dish which is compatible with Freesat. I had Sky Q as a new installation a few years back and found that the new Sky Q dish LNB does not support freesat and old Sky HD boxes. However the engineers do have an optional LNB on the van that supports both Freesat and Q. Don't think this costs any extra for customers, as they'll need to install it when there's a customer who has both Q and Sky HD boxes in the house. So you just need to ask for it. Otherwise, I found the hard way, that if you stop paying for Sky, your dish is useless and the coaxial cables won't work with most TV's or Freesat boxes. So I had to pay for a company to come out and change LNB on my dish to a compatible one.

The Sky Q LNBs which allow 4 plus simultaneous recordings work with the new 3rd generation Freesat boxes sold under the Freesat brand from 2020. Where you may have problems is if you have an older Humax Freesat box.

There were also problems, apparently, the old Sky Q LNBs and the dodgy Sky subscription sharing boxes. No problems here with compatibility - there will only be Sky Q box and mini boxes in the house.
The only slight issue ( which will need sorting at some point ) is that the Sky Q main box, from what I understand, doesn't have an RF2/OUT socket which I am currently using to feed 2 other TVs in the house via a booster. Easy to get round though by takin the coax currently going into the SkyHD and putting it directly into the booster

Ah yes that was it, so with only one Sky Q box in the house, I only got the 2 output LNB. Wideband Freesat did not exist back then.
