Gaming Steering Wheel recommendations

Looking at getting a steering Wheel but a bit out of the loop given I last bought one in 2004. It's going to be used on a PS4 & 5 . Also any one than does own one do you just mount it to your desk or have you got those specific
items designed to hold a steering wheel pedals etc?

The Logitech G29 is great (I have the G920 variant for XBox/PC). Got it last week as, like you, I started racing sims again.

It is on sale at the moment for £160.

Thanks for the recommendation . What games are you playing with it? Anything realistic?
The most realistic racing game I ever played in my opinion was back in 1998 called Grand Prix Legends

Playing loads at the moment. Some in VR. Great thing is, these games can be had pretty cheap now so nice to go back to them.

I'm looking at getting the G29 from Amazon as well to play F1 2020. Did it take you long to adapt to using a wheel? I ask mainly because I had an Xbox 360 wheel and there always be a slight delay in the my movement on the wheel and the car reacting in the game that I could never adapt to.

I think this is a sensitivity issue. The good thing about modern wheels is that you can adjust all of this in-game until it suits. For F1 games I would not have a full 900 degs turning circle and set the wheel sensitivity higher.

I got use to driving with the wheel and using the pedals (after a bit of patience in setting it up per game) very quickly. So much so now that I struggle to use a pad to play driving games - too twitch now.

My next issue is finding something to stop my gaming chair rolling backwards when I slam the brakes!

I've got the G920 and am enjoying a bit of online racing with Assetto Corsa, however I have the same issue as you. I received some non-slip casters for the chair to sit in and, while they don't slip, I think the chair will roll out of them with enough force. Tonight will be their first use in anger so I'll report back if they're any good.

If they dont work it's back to the original plan of a bit of wood, one end screwed to the pedals and the other with a lip of some type that block the chair wheels.


If anyone is interested in doing the online racing thing, I found WorldSimSeries suits me best. I'm doing the MX-5 cup and it runs on the hour every hour and they cycle the circuit once a week. I'm only just starting out, so the fixed set-up and it being the same course for a week gives me the gentle introduction I need.
