The Apprentice 2018

Anyone else started watching this year. The usual bunch of wanna be’s and business geniuses arguing and messing simple tasks up

Every year I hope they might have watched previous series and have a basic understanding of what they need to do, but it turns into the usual arguing and trying to shout louder than the other contestants...and making sure the failure isn’t their fault....

Still enjoy it though!!

Its bizarre. The 'baseline' to appear on the show must be that you've never seen an episode in your life. I fail to comprehend how they bugger up the simplest of tasks, yet manage to control their own personal businesses.

The first episode negotiations was funny though. "How much are these two bottles of wine?"
"40 Euros."
"Will you sell it for 38?". Tough negotiation...

Last nights was a bit boring. Did highlight the importance of good communication though, but again, surely at their levels, they should have all that...

Are they not allowed to use their phones for anything but talking on speakerphone?

I ask as surely they could have added their French words yesterday with simple use of Google translate or equivalent??

Much in the same way they could have avoided buying an Octopus the week before.

I don't believe they're allowed the use of Internet unless its specifically part of the task. They're always fumbling with telephone directories, rather than resorting to a Google search. I assume they're also only allowed X number of calls, to last no longer than X minutes each, which is why just before a team member says, "oh, by the way, the colour we picked was blue" the caller has to go, "sorry - have to go. Bye!" leaving the other sub-group flummoxed. Again, a communication lesson I assume, but also to add to the 'entertainment'...

I can see why they are not allowed to use Google for last weeks purchasing tasks otherwise there would be almost no challenge at all. Part of the challenge is find out what certain things mean. However, I never understand why they are not allowed to google stuff on the creative tasks. Nobody would ever try to put any product to market without checking the most basic things first so why should they make them do it in the Apprentice? There is enough that can go wrong without adding such an unrealistic contrivance.

Oh I'm sure you've nailed the reasons in reality, but it does make you wonder what Alan Sugar is trying to teach the candidates/portray to the viewer...

In business you are not allowed to use the internet...?

yay! Another batch of narcissists to hate for a few weeks
The really annoying one left first, which was somewhat disappointing as she was providing lots of amusing drama.

She also used to be in Shameless.

Just catching up with yesterday. Isn't that the guy from Super Seducer?

I quite like Sabrina.

The phones are locked down except anything but calls. They are also taken from them when they are not needed to be used. They are also monitored 24 hours a day and not allowed to talk about any task unless the cameras are rolling.

Anyone still watching this?

I found last nights gardening task painful watching as both teams were so awful. I know its heavily edited to make them look bad but at the same time how can supposedly educated successful people make such a hash of simple tasks?

The current crop are just so unlikable, but in utterly bland ways.

The real nadir of "candidates" in Apprentice history was Kurran - just awful. Arrogant, sexist, patronising, the whole package!

As the Twitterati said, I wished for a double firing last week, not two candidates, just Kurran twice!

We still tune in each week but the show can't be long for this world surely? It's the same thing year after year. Needs freshening up or binning.

Damn. Still no double firing this week. Was hoping all three would have been given the boot.
Loved Sabrina, "Hi, can I interest you in a tea towel?" or a Tote bag for Ł35

Amazing how underwhelming this series has been, we've had the final and I still hadn't learned everyones names.

And no-one is talking about it either. Personally I think he made the wrong choice.

Certainly doesn't have the draw of IACGMOOH, etc. No-one is on tenterhooks waiting for the result.

I enjoy the episodes - good way to while away an hour - but the tasks are obviously contrived to cause frustrations. Split people up so three have to create a brand and package for a product that's been developed at the same time by another group, and then wonder why they don't gel properly. "Oh, you've gone for pink and added ribbons, while we've gone for blue and a manly advert, while Tom and Dibdab has created a name of 'Hagxas Washy' "
I normally like the interview episode as they're the best at finding the real details and cutting through the flannel, but even that was boring this year.

Shame they stopped the 'Junior Apprentice'. Some of the kids were a bit more annoying and more cocky than the adults, but overall, was more watchable.
