Lorca definitely knows more than he's letting on. That little smirk he gave when the Empresses is revealed.

^ I advise against watching the trailer for the next episode.

What never fails to amaze me, if this is set in the future, with all this high tech gear, and yet they have no web cams or anything anywhere.
All sorts of bad things happen in various rooms, and no one knows.

Hell even in the Doctors/Surgery, where the bad thing happened, no one said "why has the cam been turned off" as you'd always want for safety esp there.

Crew quarters and Sick Bay do not have their web cams turned on for privacy reasons.

I will admit, I've not spotted any Google Homes yet
Or would that be Google Ship ?

Still amazed me how computers give out showers of sparks when they break, and (not star trek) lights give of a thumping noise as they come on.

Note: I do know sci-fi would be very boring if it was not for all the silly effects

I feel like I'm defending DIS, maybe their computer isn't as advanced as the one on the Enterprise-D. I remember in the TNG episode A Matter Of Time the computer automatically disables a phaser Rasmussen has stolen when his ships forcefields are lowered.

Technology is a weird one.
The best one that stuck in my mind was one of the Terminator films (one of the last ones I think)
Set in the future, or course, and you had Terminators driving Vans around!

Totally amazing, a billion $ robot with full AI sitting in a van driving it.

No driverless cars/vans in that future it seems?
they can build the Terminators, but they can't build a van that drives itself without a robot in the passenger seat

Maybe it's a comfort thing? You're happy to have a robot drive the car but not happy to have the car driving itself.

Union rules innit - driving a van is a job strictly for terminators only.

I know this is a Star Trek thread, so I won't continue this side-step beyond this

But just to finish of this point.

See "Point 2" if you scroll down this page just a bit:

2. In the future war, why do T-800s drive trucks?

Isn't this better in the self driving thread?

Because they're using old pre-Judgement day trucks?

Another riveting episode - felt like it was only 10 minutes long!

Wow! Excellent stuff.
And now we probably have an explanation for the female security chief, Landry, in those early episodes who got a lot of complaints online about acting extremely aggressively.

Interesting stuff - I just hope it doesn't go the way of Lost. Building more and more complex threads that never resolve themselves satisfactorily.

On an almost related point, Marina Sirtis just liked one of my tweets!
