The Walking Dead Season 8 (**Spoilers**)

Season 8 episode 1 up on NowTv. Something mesmerising about this show for me, despite the downturn in quality I can't seem to quit, so hopefully season 8 will redeem the distinctly patchy season 7.
I'll find out this evening anyway.

The Walking Dead S8 - Spoilers

A good, solid opening I thought.

Like a poster said in the last thread, I can't seem to let this one go, and am still watching 7 series in... Still enjoying despite some low moments..

That's true - so many opportunities last season to take him out, and they didn't...

Especially all the talk of it being all about Negan, and the cult of his personality.. they take down him, and the dominoes come tumbling down.

Even the reverand had a gun at the end when he was trapped in the building with him (I think)

I appreciated the fact we were straight in there with an assault on the sanctuary and the whole organisation of it was dealt with quickly (previously, the Dwight-Daryl arrow exchange could probably have taken a whole episode) but like others have said, bit daft with Negan holding court on a balcony that no-one with a keen eye could take him out.

Not sure it seemed like that good a plan, however. Given the organisation with which Negan's gang herded Rick's group into their trap at the end of Season Six, seems a bit much they were so easily outgunned here (assuming they were, though with the dream sequence/Rick's weepy eyes, etc, I'm sure there's a sting in the tail).

Thought it was bad, mainly how they couldn't hit anyone when they had a chance to shoot them dead (in the past they can improbable headshots)

Yep, agree about 'just shoot him'. They went to all that effort with the lookouts on the list and took them out with precision and care and there they are with Negan right in front of them and nothing.

Quite liked the overall plan with the big hoard though.

Was the latest episode directed by the people who did The A team?

Never seen so many guns fired and so many people missed. Awful.

I think you guys get the Talking Dead now? Scott M Gimple said on Sunday night that the first four episodes are like this

Dozens of untrained civilians firing automatic weapons & hitting nothing, I call that an accurate portrayal for once.

Now watching some of the others casually headshot from distance with silenced handguns, now that I'd call unrealistic ..... but it's damn entertaining so doesn't bother me.

Or morgans walk down a corridor just casually popping people off with no fear of them shooting him - because he cannot die!

Jesus.

Who ever thought that was a good idea needs firing. I suppose after the 4 action episodes we'll have 4 catastrophically slow episodes with the odd main character caught in a room they really should know better about.

The ultimate style over substance TV show.

Well I think it's been utter ******** so far. The Negan bit where he pops out in front of about 30 automatic rifles with only his baseball bat to protect him, plus obviously a few cheeky chappy lines whilst leaning back a bit, was utterly ridiculous. It reminds me of George in Blackadder Goes Forth when he's told to remember his stick before they go over the top, 'Wouldn't want to face a machine gun without this!'.

Then when he's under the scrap car and Rick can't quite aim properly ugh. Second episode was really confusing as to who was where, and what half of them were actually doing. The Shakespearian/riddle chit chat is getting on my nerves now too.

I might actually give up now.

Yeah. Episode 2 was astoundingly bad. I can see what they wanted to do but they just do not have to the skill to pull it off.

All those close up shots of everyone gazing into the distance. WTF? The writers need to take a serious look at themselves and come to terms with their skill limitations.

That is the worst! But I sort of like it in so far as I can't believe they're persevering with his thespian leanings in the middle of firefights.

I half expect him to take a bullet to the chest and exclaim "Gadzooks! I am verily impaled and mark'd to die upon the morrow."

Not seen the second episode yet but the first was laughably awful. As others have mentioned, Negan and all his main cronies were stood there a few metres from a loads of guns yet no one takes a shot. Absolutely dreadful writing. So you can have Daryl and the blonde haired **** accurately shooting bolts within inches of each other to swap messages in one scene and then the next no one has the gumption to even point their gun at a load of blokes stood around in clear view with no protection.

Negan also continues to be a complete joke of a villain and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's acting is so camp and ludicrous I wouldn't be surprised to find him being cast in the local pantomime this Christmas. Also the less said about the idiot priest the better.

What with the prospect of the rubbish dump *******, with their stupid hair and ludicrous way of speaking, coming back at some point, I'm not sure I can continue with it any more. I think that I keep watching in the hope that is returns to it's previous quality.
