[ Blu-ray ] @ArrowFilmsVideo The Thing Limited Collectors Edition £29.99 @ Amazon

A new bargain has been posted to Tweals:

[ Blu-ray ] @ArrowFilmsVideo The Thing Limited Collectors Edition £29.99 @ Amazon

THE ULTIMATE IN ALIEN TERROR

Over the years, star Kurt Russell and master of horror John Carpenter have teamed up on a multitude of films (Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from New York to name a few) but of all their collaborations, 1982 s horror/sci-fi amalgalm The Thing surely tops the list.

A research team based out in the snowy wilds of Antartica find themselves beseiged by a terrifying, shape-shifting creature which has found its way into their base. When it becomes clear that the creature can take the form of any organism it so chooses, the tension within the team reaches breaking point any one of them could be... The Thing.

Critically panned at the time of its release, John Carpenter s The Thing has rightly gone on to become one of the most celebrated sci-fi horror efforts ever made now newly restored by Arrow Video in a stunning 4K transfer supervised by Carpenter and director of photography Dean Cundey.

It seems for now Arrow have embargoed pre-orders until officially announced by themselves.

I had clicked to buy last night but it wouldn't add to my basket and by the time the page refreshed the buy option had been removed with only a notify when available. Some people on blu-ray.com did get orders completed and was #1 in sales chart last night !

In addition to this version with art cards, poster and book there will also be a Steelbook for same price.

BTW pending listings also up for both versions on Zavvi but only £19.99 each. Also currently unable to pre-order.

It was available at Zavvi last night but sold out really quick same with Amazon. If anyone still hasn't got one you will have to wait till the Arrow site is up and see if they have any left.

FYI, both this & the steelbook were £17.99 each direct from Arrow before their site crashed.

Hopefully they'll have some left when they start their sale on the 19th. Wanna get me some double points!

Not sure why it's a bargain at £30 but pre-ordered anyway.

Because it's only 4,000 copies and if you believe blu-ray.com people are buying up to 100 copies to force a sellout even before release so they can scalp on eBay for vast profit later.

This craziest even exceeds the Zavvi exclusive Steelbook of Fright Night released by Eureka earlier in the year.

Arrow posted on FB their site couldn't handle the demand. They are trying to fix but expect not to return until early next week. They said first they have to manually sort out all the half completed purchases which corrupted when the site imploded. It was confirmed anyone with a PayPal acknowledgement of order has a confirmed purchase so will get a copy.

Managed to get the Limited Edition plus the Steelbook from the Arrow site, and also redeemed some Arrow points for a slight discount too...So, a great result...

Looking forward to what should well be the definitive version (as far as quality goes) of the movie

If it's better than the HD-DVD version then it'll be amazing.

Fingers crossed!

All the talk is that it will be, as it appears to have been made from a brand new 4K scan of the original film negative, and done with the precision and care that you would expect from Arrow...

Can't wait

Arrow site now says sold out but you can still order. Confused.

Edit : as said can add both LE and Steelbook to your cart but when you try and checkout it just sticks on first page.

Good job I ordered from Amazon last night. Was asleep when it seems Arrow got their site working again

Both the Steelbook £24.99 and LE boxset £29.99 available to order at Amazon but you can only order one copy of each.

It seems Amazon have cancelled the orders of the scalpers who ordered tens of copies.

Have Zavvi put more copies on sale then. As was sold out there at weekend ?

Also have much lower confidence with Zavvi supplying this than Amazon. Zavvi have a track record of over selling sold out limited editions so they take more pre-orders than the studio has allocated them copies.

This has been seen with both the Arrow Videodrome and Hellraiser boxsets which both sold out before release date. Some Zavvi customers with valid orders never received copies. Seemed hit and miss whether you received a copy from them or not, as did not seem related to when you originally ordered with them.
