Ubisoft revealed a new IP during their E3 2012 conference by the name of Watch Dogs. It looks to be an open world, stealth-action title with multiple ways to achieve your objective and a heavy emphasis on manipulating your environment via hacking (in the world the game is set in entire cities are operated by a single computer system).
It looks pretty stunning and by virtue of being a new IP has garnered a lot of praise and attention already.
Intro video and gameplay demo from the Ubisoft press conference:
No release date but it's coming for PC, 360 and PS3 so is probably a 2013 release.
Rockstar are going to have to raise their game to match it.
Rockstar have to build a city you can drive around in at 100mph. There's no way you could do this kind of detail in GTA without having a loading bar every 10 seconds.
This game looks really good, probably means it will be crap, plus Ubisoft seem to **** up most things.
Seeing as their last big game (I think) was Driver: San Francisco, my game of 2011, I'm looking forward to this. Shame we'll probably have to wait for the PS4 / XBOX 720 to get it!

You're absolutely right but didn't he get into a car at the end of the video? Isn't that misleading people into believing you'll be about to bat around the city at 100mph?
Ubi have a pretty uneven track record. It's been speculated on here that the Assassin's Creed series have alternated between various development teams due to the varying quality of them. You only have to compare the footage between AC3 and ACR to see exactly what I mean!
