Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Complete Season 1 at £11.99

This is an excellent series which all comic book lovers and big kids like me should love.

Great value at £11.99 for all 26 episodes.

Wasn't this supposed to be released on Blu-ray in the US/Canada? Can't find any trace of it on Amazon...anyone know what happened to it?

I just thought I'd best let anyone know who bought this that it is actually missing an episode (ep 4 Meet Captain America) so it's not 'complete' as advertised.

I'm not sure who the best person to contact about this is but it obviously needs sorting!

If you complain to Amazon customer service, they are usually quite good at correcting erroneous product information. Luckily a couple of customer reviews already mention this defect as well.

The next step would be complaining to Disney Home Entertainment or whoever is the UK publisher. The omission is likely intentional due to a licensing issue or something like that, but at least they should learn that customers are not happy about false advertising.

I've already fired off an email to the Disney DVD site menationed on the back of the box but they haven't been any help, their response was:
Quote:
Thank you very much for your email and information regarding the faulty product. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us regarding this.

I am extremely sorry to learn that this item has become faulty and the issues that you have experienced with DVD purchased from play.com.

Unfortunately, here at the Disney Store, we are only able to deal with queries directly relating to items purchased from our High Street Stores or our Online Stores. As such, regrettably, we are unable to assist you further with this item. However, if we could please ask you to contact the Walt Disney Company switchboard number on 0208 222 1000 and ask for Disney Consumer Products, they should be able to assist you further.

We hope this will be of help to you. If we can provide you with any further information or be of any further assistance to you in the meantime please do not hesitate to contact us again.
I'm going to ask them for an email address as I don't want to have to have lengthy phone discussions where nothing happens and at least by email you have a record.

The weird thing is that the episode numbering misses a number on disc 3, it goes from 7-12 on disc 2 to jump to 14-19 on disc 3. So I'm hoping it's just an incredibly stupid mistake that for some reason hasn't been spotted yet.

Finally got a reply from Disney:
Quote:
Thank you for taking the time to contact Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

We are very sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your recent purchase of the Avengers - Earth's Mightiest Heroes Volumes 1-4 Boxset, BUA0175601. Unfortunately an error was made on the screen menu with this DVD that was not detected in our QC checks. The episode to which you refer was not made available for release in the UK, however, due to human error the master menus supplied for this release were not adjusted to reflect this. We always make our best endeavours to ensure we are as accurate as possible although unfortunately sometimes our standards do fall short. We are in the process of correcting this mistake.
So it sounds like the episode was intentionally left out, looks like I'll be waiting for a US release then!

It's a real shame as I've now sent mine back for a refund and other people may do the same, I can't understand why an episode wasn't made available here really strange!

Why would they deliberately leave an episode off? I've seen the missing episode and its not any more violent or has a copyright song on the soundtrack.

Probably the most common reason would be music that the publisher has not licensed to be used in Europe or the license is no longer valid. Usually the offending song would just be replaced, though.

More difficult to patch would be a license for a character or some other prominent IP. Some Marvel Comics characters are not actually owned by Marvel. ROM the Space Knight and Conan the Barbarian are examples of this.

Or as the missing episode seems to feature Red Skull, perhaps there are too many swastikas around for this episode to be distributed in Germany? (Although this release would not seem to have German soundtrack or subtitles, so this is probably not it.)

noticed this is Virgin on demand and the same thing, missing meet captain america.

Perhaps wolverine appearing in it as he's an x man and that's fox???

Anyway, found the ep on you tube and watched the first ten. Pretty good I think, reminds me of the old xmen tv series.
