21 Jump Street

Just got back from seeing this and I thought it was hilarious. I've been a fan of the directors since Clone High (And Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs) and it's good to see their sensibility on display here. It's filthy, hilarious, meta and Channing Tatum was great.

There. See it purely for that reason. He's very funny in this and I hope he and Jonah Hill carry on working together because they have great chemistry.

The only odd thing was after all the trailers and adverts etc were done with they show a trailer for...21 Jump Street. Right before the film starts.

It's quality. You can well imagine it hangin about with R2-D2. And when the fan is switched on it looks like it's scanning for life-forms like R2-D2 does on the ice world of Hoth when Luke Skywalker goes missing. Quality in moton. The other day it disappeared. I said, "where's the bag-l gone? have the jawas come to pick it up in the sandcrawler?" to which one of the girls in the office replied, "No, Les the porter!" —Captainchode

Just back as well and totally agree with your comments, it's probably the first film I've seen Tatum in were I didn't want to punch him - he really is hilarious in some scenes.

Likewise agree, very funny throughout and some great chemistry by the leads.

DrVenkman I had the same thing with the film's trailer right before the film. Were you at a Cineworld?

As President of the Derby chapter of the Richard Grieco Protection Society, I've officially lodged a complaint about this thread and everyone involved. Plus, Richard's seen the new "film" and he says IT'S CRAP. And NOT DARK.

I loved this especially the "Cameo appearances" and echo the comments about Hill and Tatum working superbly off each other and Dickson's "In Jokes" especially the one about
Spoiler:
running out of original idea's and rebooting old ones

Saw this last night too - really enjoyed it, much better than I was expecting. And yeah, who knew Tatum could do comedy.

Isn't he too busy making soft-core porn now?

JimDriver2 - Yeah it was Cineworld. I was expecting it to turn into one of those piracy adverts, but nope they just played the whole trailer.

If by soft core porn you mean appearing in TV shows and doing voice work on videogames then yes, yes he is!

Just goes to show how little attention I pay to the adverts as when I went to Cineworld I couldn't tell you if it played

Was nice to see

I'm going to see this just for the one reason.

Ron '*****' Swanson is in it.

Loco Why a dang Comedy

21 Jump Street was a TV Show where young cops went undercover as high school kids, it covered many subjects and was very dramatic at times but it was not a comedy.

Mind you nether was The Green Hornet or Charlie's Angels, but that didn't stop the movies being comedys and for me much poorer for it.

I thought it looked like a dodgy comedy reboot (presumably from the Apatow stable) as well when I saw the ads on TV, but now I know it's from the Cloudy Meatball guys I'll definitely be checking it out.

I went to this too on the back of the comments above, but I have to say I had more fun watching John Carter, Warlord of Mars (to give it its PROPER title). But then I'm a FNL fan, and never saw the 21JS tv series.

There were some LOL moments (the best towards the very end), and CT was very good playing a well-written character, but I won't be buying the BR, nor even the dvd, not even in the sales.

Loved this. Made up for the John Carter disappointment from yesterday. Very, very amusing in a Superbad way. Recommended.

FWIW, I never watched the 80s show.
