Looking to be set during the American revolution, so a big change of scenery after the last lot (still haven't played Revelations though). I wonder if they'll mix it up more with muskets etc. Could be interesting and the breath of fresh air the series desperately needs right now.
I still kinda wish they'd gone with a Victorian London setting instead, art looks interesting and no doubt I'll end up grabbing it on release (aside from the fact I haven't touched Revalations yet, it's still in my pile of shame)
I just assumed they were moving to the orient next with the whole plotline involving the mongolians in Revelations. I'm sure I read on the Assassin's Creed wiki that Ezio trained a Chinese pupil before his death as well, dunno if that was just fan wankery though.
Am I the only one really upset with this setting? There are so many historical options that would have provided such a cool play experience, and this just makes me go meh
Also wanted a different setting, ancient Egypt or Victorian London, feudal japan, all would of been better and more investing. Also mentioned in the last AC thread, about the lacking of tall buildings in the american civil war era to climb
Also hope the focus is not on guns of that era, I can see them turning into a shooter for the mass market
I hope the story is ballsy enough to have the antagonists from both sides, maybe like they're orchestrating the war for their own gain or something. I hope it's not just 'Death to the English. America, **** yeah!'. Alot of speculation floating around the net that the main character will be native american.
Also, how much is he going to stick out in that outfit, during that time period?
A victorian england set AC would be great! Scaling the buildings of London under cover of darkness, pea soup fog hanging in the air, could've been amazing!

Assassin's Creed 3 mainly centers around the North American cities of Boston and New York in the 18th Century
In addition to New York and Boston, around a third of the game takes place on the frontier, an area said to be 1.5 times bigger than Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood's entire game map. There will be some kind of fast travel system to help you get around quickly.
New hero called Connor/Ratohnhake:ton (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-gay-doo). He has an English father and Native American mother.

Ubisoft is apparently also aiming to make Assassin's Creed III feel more like Assassin's Creed 3.5, with a completely overhauled engine allowing for improved facial animation and large battle scenes featuring loads of soldiers on screen at once. And not all of the game's British colonists will be pure evil either. You'll meet some nice ones too.
looking foward to this after the very disappointing AC: Revelations
I hadn't thought about the building structures in terms of the usual game style... interesting point. The video seems to suggest tree climbing, but then videos suggest all kinds of lies...
Whatever it is, I just hope it's better than Revelations. I LOVED ACII and AC:Brotherhood. But Revelations, with its narrow streets, lack of open space and lack of variety, left completely cold.
Revelations added the most crappy new features, hoping all thats gone. 1st person desmond sections = **** tower defence = **** bomb making = meh gimmick
AC3 has been suppose to be be in development for 3 years (according to ubisoft, so hoping for the best) Although the assassin outfit looks out of place in the town areas
