Xbox Live Game/Chat Connection Issues

I'm having some problems with Xbox Live and was hoping to get some advice.

I logged on to Live last night to play some Resi 5 coop with my cousin. I sent him an invite as usual but when he tries to accept it doesn't connect.

Tried to play some coop spec ops on MW2 but had the same issue where it fails to connect when he accepts the invite.

Then I tried inviting him to private chat and that also doesn't work.

We're both paid for Gold Live and never used to have this problem. He has recently replaced his original 20GB with a new S but I don't think that should be an issue.

Anyone got any ideas or advice?

NAT issues by the sounds of it. Looks like his is possibly on Strict.

Get him to do a network test and see what it says. If it is that, reset the router as this can help fix it.

Other than that, he may have to forward some ports on his router.

one of the many weird and wonderful quirks of xboxlive!

I've got about a dozen mates I play with on MW2, but theres 1 guy who cannot connect if I host a party, and I cannot connect to him?

I personally think its got something to do with Be or the Thomson router im using, but absolutely nothing gets rid of it.....

Hi,

I'm the friend trying to connect to the games on Resi and MW2. We've been in matches together on lots of occasions in the past without any issues at all but since I've changed my Xbox to the slim and joined Sky Broadband with their wireless router I can't seem to connect to the invites, party chats or private chats. I can join multiplayer games without a problem but any invites just won't connect.

So I'm guessing it's one of two things going wrong, either the new Xbox or the Sky Router.....what should I look at?

Run a network test on the xbox and see if it comes up as Strict Nat or Moderate Nat. If it is you will need to open some ports in the router or put your xbox in DMZ on the router. Theres a good website to help with this here...

My Xbox has been a pain to sign in the last couple of days takes at least three attempts and then drops connection in under 5 mins. Not checked yet, but I think there maybe issues with the servers?

Party chat has been playing up for the last week or so for me and my mates. One of us will randomly get dropped into their own party every now and again. Seems to be the same person who gets it each session but then someone else will next time.

I get this, have openen my NATs, done me DMZ's, open the ports etc etc. Still does this everytime I play. I found the best fix is to run the XBL test on the dashboard. This completes all fine and then allows all chats/game connection etc.

It must be my router, although have no idea what is left. My son has the same issue on his box and a reset of the router also fixes the issue.
