Roman Polanski arrested

... in Zurich.

Didn't see this one coming after all these years, although I know he had recently asked for the case to be thrown out.

A bit more here:

He sodomised a 13 yr old.

Regardless of his stature or how long ago it was he should be tried for it.

If it was an ordinary bloke people would be roaring for his head.

Why should Polanski be different.

He's no different to Gary Glitter in many ways and regardless of who he is, should have had his career flushed down the toilet the minute he was found guilty.

The irony will be that some will tolerate him being a perv because he made a film they like, whereas "Leader of the Gang" is universally cack.

Just saw this on the news. I think he should be prosecuted for what he's done. Though I just hope he gets to finish "The Ghost" first

agreed Splobs ....I work in social services and I see the result of this on daily basis....I can just hear the usual old excuses

I didn't know what age she was
I thought she was older
I haven't done anything wrong....she led me on...

blah blah blah

Let's not forget this wasn't some 10 year old boy experimenting with his sexuality....this was grown man (44 at the time !!!) who knew very well what he was doing... In 77, he was arrested in LA and plead guilty to "unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor" (13-year-old girl) was then released after a 42-day psychiatric evaluation and then ****** off to France !!!

ADULT plus CHILD = JAIL do NOT pass GO

I like Leader of the Gang but have hardly ever heard it played since, unlike Michael Jackson, who was found innocent, but you still heard his music before the verdict (albeit it did go quiet for a little while).

I think you have hit the nail on the head....Jackson went to court....and was found not guilty by all 11 jurors...Polanski admitted his guilt...then ran away !

Having watched the recent documentary about Polanski, "Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired" all I can say is that I hope Polanski gets a fair trial.

About time! Scumbag, I hope he dies in prison, in pain.

The details of the case are vile, hope he gets exactly what is coming to him.

Regardless of what I think about his work, Polanski should have done his time. At least people like Victor Salva did their time.

He hasn't made a decent movie since the 1970s so we wouldn't have missed any masterpieces if he'd done the time.

So how long will he get?

I remember reading many different numbers over the years for doing what he has done. Child rape sadly may end up being the least of his time, and evading the US of A justice system etc.. may well send him away for good.

It's not child rape. 'unlawful sex with a minor'. Doesn't stop it being equally horrible, but in the eyes of the law it's a lesser charge.

It is in my eyes, no matter what the law calls it.

Well they probably won't judge his jail-time based on your opinion
