Thumbs down Indy Jones 4 just slipped further down the U-bend

Apparently not content with Spielberg shoehorning his wife, Kate Capshaw into the movie:

Actress Calista Flockhart is apparently planning to team up with boyfriend Harrison Ford in the next Indiana Jones movie. Filming on Indiana Jones 4 is due to begin in May 2004, with the film looking more adult than its 1980s predecessors. A source says, "Harrison Ford had only one demand when he was approached about doing a fourth Indiana Jones movie - that Calista be written into the new movie. Luckily, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas loved the idea. They think Calista will be a perfect romantic interest for Indiana." And having the ex-Ally McBeal star on board solved one problem for the filmmakers. The source says, "The Indy team had no idea what to do with Indy for the fourth movie. Bringing Calista on board gave them inspiration and they dreamed up the whole story in just a few hours. Getting Calista into the movie was the kick-in-the-pants the guys needed."

I don't know - she was pretty good in the earlier seasons of Mcbeal, and taking away the stress of a TV show will probably mean she'll gain weight.

I'm more worried about his comments that he's not commiting to anything until he's read the script.

So we've a bit of a wait before we get too excited...

Why?

It's not like anyone's getting their daughter to 'act' in the film. At least Calista Flockhart can act, unlike a certain Coppola offspring who played a central role in The Godfather prt 3.

It might be ok.

What role is Speilberg's wife playing?

I wouldn't worry too much. As long as Flockhart stands sideways no one will notice her.

You mean the gurning to camera she does in the (thankfully cancelled) Ally McBeal? Last time I checked that wasn’t acting.

Odds are her and Ford won’t be an item come 2004 (’bout the time he gets his free bus pass) and we’ll find she’s mysteriously absent from the cast.

Besides, this all has a bit of an "allegedly" feel about it...

You'd have to know what a camera is in order to gurny towards it, so her eyeline will be ok at least.

This film sooooooooooo ain't gonna happen.

All of the "scoops" so far have been so half-assed with "x" saying this and "y" saying that. Fanboy nonsense.

(no offence jonathan.e - its the film I have issue with not the post !)

Well it is official that Lucas has a storyline and Frank Darabont is writing a script from it.

Casting other and Ford and Connery should be taken rather lightly.

She was pretty uninspiring in the only film I;ve seen her in - The Birdcage, but that was before her McBeal years so hopefully she's improved.

Yep good point - I appreciate that - but at the mo its still so up in the air that I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes sidelined when they realise it weren't all that much of a good idea.

On that note there are loads of sequel scripts cluttering up executives desks - and whilst they aren't exactly the cash-cows that Indy 4 would be - none of them (ET 2, Goonies 2, Lost Boys 2 and countless others) have ever come to fruition...

I'm glad Ford dragged his girlfriend into a movie, every movie I've seen with future or current couples was great, like Eyes Wide Shut... or Sudden Impact with Sondra Locke, etc.
But to start filming in 2004, that's a bit too far off, Harrison Ford isn't getting any younger, c'mon already.
For now I got Kathryn "Strange Days" Bigelow's K19 with Ford to wait for.

I hope K 19 turns out better than the trailer sugests. If not he could be getting the wip and hat out rather sharpish.

Trailer for K19 was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in ages. Ford’s pathetic accent made Connery’s attempts look like perfect mimicry - an apt comarison seeing as HF has now started ripping off Connery’s flicks: Hunt for Red October/K19.

Nope, I didn't, too bad it's not on DVD, would have rented it. I did see their burned down house where he beat her up in Malibu though, so it didn't end well.

Well - there was a recent Minority Report press confrence and Spielberg did confirm that Conerry was on board - or as he says "I don't want to go into any spoilers - but yes, he is in it"

But there was no mention of anyone else being there - all he confirmed was his wife, connery and ford with Darabont writing - it does seem very dodgy to me, what's the chances they'll still be together by 2004?
