I agree with some of the comments elsewhere that it shouldn't be futuristic - there are plenty of real world historical wars/conflicts yet to be done...
Northern Ireland, Somalia, South America, Vietnam etc...
It could only be set 50 years in the future or something with a good grounding to reality. Heck, the modern day combat was practically futuristic as I was so used to WW2.
I would love to see a Vietnam game though, not enough games set in that time - especially good ones.
Hiding behind a perspex shield while guys in flares with bad haircuts pelt you with bottles and rocks wouldn't be fun from a gameplay point of view imo.

They could do rampages where you get to kill as many spides as possible or so, I'd pay good money for that, especially if I got to use a flamethrower.
have they done much on ww1? i've only ever been on a couple of them and they seemed to be ww2.
gang warfare?
Suppose it's weighing up a theme, with possible gameplay potential. As weapons of the time become more basic...well imagine if it went back just a bit further. "Shoot, powder, wadding, ramrod...." not much gameplay in that
I agree, pretty much all of the weapons in COD4 are current or cold war era weapons, there are a whole load of new weapons coming into use, or on trial that could liven the game up.
I think the MP7 would be an awesome weapon, assault weapon power in an SMG size package.
I'd like to see some CS gas, that works well in R6V.
I could personally live without juggernaut and martyrdom.
If it could be balanced I'd like to see a system where you get so many slots and you can fill them with either weapon additions or perks in whatever mix you want.
I just hope it doesn't go as far into the future as GRAW.
Oh and I'd like to stop the helicopter shooting me from insane angles, and make the maps glitcher proof.
Oh and one last thing, I'd like to see detection for tampering and boosting, that makes cheats wear a pink dress, and have cheat written next to their gamertag, and the option to choose not to play with cheats.
I'm only coming from a single player point of view, but anything within the last 20 years will do me.. I'm bored of WW2, and I don't like the idea of the future.
I'd like to see more special forces stuff as well... The opening SAS mission on the boat had a fantastic feel to it. More sneaky-sneaky silenced weapons stuff would also go down a storm.
Edit: I'd also like to take up the minigun spot on a black hawk...
